| Bio: | I graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1964 with a major in English Lit. I worked my way through college in the printing industry and by railroading. One year, the university failed to post my draft deferment and I got occupy a square, bend over and cough at Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Luckily the deferment came through! I wish I could tell you that I'm a great scholar but I spent too much time in the pubs and chasing girls. After 40 some years I remember everyone of them and still love more than a few. After Miami, I joined the Navy and went to Navy OCS. We called it the Coddington College of Nautical Knowledge. Served with a fighter squadron, a destroyer, and shore duty in Philly and punched out married to my current and only wife, The Chief. The Chief and I have two wonderful sons who are in their early 30's and doing very well, the older calls himself a computer Uber Geek, the younger is a mechanical engineer. I worked for over 30 years with the Army as a civilian logistician staff action officer. The Chief understands my career as being a ghost writer for Army generals. Although my blood runs Navy blue I dearly love the Army and may one day write an Army novel. My writing reflects my blue collar background. My sailors are typically composites of people I've met and worked with in the paper mills, freight yards, Navy and Army. I try to share the joy I've had in finding greatness and dignity in ordinary people. I'm retired now living in a small Virginia town near Richmond. Yes, I am a damn Yankee. Retirement gives me the time to write and feel the warmth of young blood surge through my veins again. |
