| Bio: | I grew up in 9 foster homes and 4 orphanages. Dropped out of British Grammar School at 15, but left with a love of the classics. Then, in Canada, did a year of Art School, waited tables, cashiered,taught ballroom dancing, took inventories, did some wing-walking, all the while reading reading reading on toilets, buses, subways, planes and while waiting in line, with a dictionary at hand. Moved to the USA, hired as a very junior copywriter, became a junior publicist, upgrade to a theatrical agent, then segued into film production, record company publicist, then electronics until surviving cancer I decided to work with artists. About 20 years ago began seriously teaching myself to write by reading (or attempting to)across the whole span of human literature still with dictionary in hand and curiosity still intact. I taught myself to write by reading the best on offer, have never taken a writing course, but have had some valuable and generous editorial advice along the way. Now I've moved to Greece to WRITE at long last. It's not quite the Paradise I'd hoped for, too many starving dogs, cats and donkeys on the streets for that illusion, but I'll stay long enough to finish this novel, start a new one, and revise and/or polish a group of stories I've amassed slowly over the years in the hope of a collection. Then - where? Maybe the Mendocino coast area in northern California, one of my favourite places in the world. I own 6 dogs, 4 of them found starving, injured & near death in the streets. I drive a much beloved 1979 Scimitar SE6A named Kalisto who needs more attention than a lover. Got any spare parts, anyone? |
