I live in the US, but I was born and raised in the UK, where I worked in the factories and foundries in the "Black Country" of the industrial midlands. Britain was pretty drab after World War 2, and I spent most of my early life cleaning dirt from under my nails and watching high-energy American movies. You might say that Gene Kelly and Doris Day invited me over here.
