So I need three times as much nothing?

only half of nothing will do ... K doesn't know what is coming.  I'm assuming I know, since I've seen you ask a question if there still is a 5000 word limit per chapter, so if my calculation is correct, three times nothing equals 7500+ words ...  :-)

I'd suggest you close your eyes when you read my next Char chapter then ...  hiehiehie

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

The 5000 word limit question is for a subsequent chapter.  I'd like to make one chapter of two that are split artificially.  Although we could also say they are unified artifcially.  Well, it's good to know.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

If I haven't bungled it too badly, the first chapter with Erevain is up.  I'm going to have to renumber subsequent chapters.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

Huh?  What??  Oh, it's an open question.  But I prefer not to kill without story need.  Go read Gaudy Night.

I just realized that, apart from a few typos, I have a seious problem with missing italicizations.  TNBW does not cut/paste them properly, even from itself.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

I used to have problems with italics and now I don't (since the new site came up)  I would have to assume it is because the new site is more Mac friendly.  This has to be a programming bias.

Oh, I'll check out Erevain tonight if the masses don't crash too many cars.  It's a weekend but the winter lull is still in effect.  Optimism is high.

Glitchen fixed.  Chapter numbers changed to reflect reality, and to leave some room for me to work.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

Found it.  Missing closing quotes.  This isn't the same person talking in a different paragraph.

"Yes.  It was morning when-- before we got here.  We got here in the afternoon.  We saw a horse and followed it this way. (")
"A horse?" the stranger said, his gaze blank.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

Ah  Will fix.  Thanks.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

I haven't dropped off the face off the earth.  I'm down in NC visiting my mother and taking care of family business.  I'll try to find some time to catch up on reviews.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

I think everyone is taking a hiatus while Janet moves to the U.S. I just consider it to be like a lull in the conversation. We'll pick this up again soon.

No.  I haven't been able to work on that for a week.  I'm making the last pass on improving the behavior of the detector.  If this doesn't help, I'll work with what I have.  Then back to the pigeon flasher, which is what forced me to get the detector outputs consistent, and after that I've got Physical Design to work on.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

I was notified that I hadn't completed the integration of the sections of Ch. 4 back into Ch. 3.  Well, I've done it, though none too adroitly.  Feel free to have a look.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

Chapter 3 of the first version? Clarify...

241

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

The Version #2.  Take the latest version extant.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

I've just had an insight on Everain and his mentor Nikkano.  I know more of their backstory now, and I have to rework the next Erevain chapter to fit.

I've got some open questions, too.  See Dr. Dmitri Vapnoodle.

243

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

Just to keep you in the loop: I'm working on backstory involving Erevain and his prentice-master, Niccano.  What caused Niccano to pull up shop from a world near the center of sorcerous commerce and move to the sticks of the sticks, with his apprentice in tow?  He had long habit and skill snooping into the secrets around him so that he could avoid stepping into them openly and accidentally?  When he stumbled into a danger he could never have imagined, in a secret that could look back at him, what did he tell Erevain to justify the move yet conceal his knowledge?

Did he die, or just fake his death and disappear into a non-sorcerous world, beyond the eye, if not the reach, of the worst danger the Worlds ever faced?  (This question I don't answer now, but I have to know what Erevain sees and believes.)

Whom does Niccano trust as a courier and business front to bring commissions to Erevain, and completed work back?

Once I have some answers here, I can flesh out his role in the next few chapters.

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

Oh, I haven't forgotten you.  Just been busy, but your chapter 3 is on my dance card.

245

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

By the way, I'm surprised that nobody has caught the allusion in my main title.

246

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

The overarching story title.

247

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

List the title here for clarification.  Otherwise, I think you're just talking about, "The Sorcerer's Progress'

248

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

That's the title.  It makes at least two allusions to famous works.

249

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress

Hmmm.  Sorcerer's Apprentice (Disney) and The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan.

Amy's got one of them.  What's the other?
