Re: Potential changes to the point system

Sol, just to clarify, if free members can only join one group, does that mean they won't be able to post to multiple groups simultaneously as well? So, if a budding sci-fi author wants to post work to the sci-fi group, they have to drop the Premium group? Why the switch from five groups down to one?
Thanks.
Dirk

No, they will not be able to join or post to more than one group as Free Member. If they want to post work to the sci-fi group, they'll have to drop the Premium Group. Or, they could just become a Premium Member and join up to 10 groups. I would think that's a better option. They'll now  have 30 days to try it out for free and see if they like it.

Re: Potential changes to the point system

Hi Sol

I can't see any reason this wouldn't work.  If they recip, they would experience what this site has to offer and would probably upgrade permanently to premium.  If they don't recip/engage, after 30 days they'd be gone, which is a loss for them but would be good for the site over the long term as this is what makes it special.  I think you just came up with a pretty good solution, so I really hope it works out.

Cheers Janet

This was suggested by a few other members so I can't take the credit. Thanks everyone!

Re: Potential changes to the point system

I think Bimmy's idea is brilliant--offer a 1 or a 3 month free membership, but after that require payment to continue being a member. You could even incentivize it further by having them earn full points for reviewing but only need half the points to post during that introductory period.

That way there is some value and people can try it out.
