Ray,
Thanks for the kind note. Looking forward to reading the Great Divide!
Historical Fiction Group,
My name is E W Helmick and I am interested in Historical Fiction which might include bold and visual glances into history along with the telling of your story.
Love to read and happy to give general and in-line reviews per your request.
I am days away from taking my novel, The Hunger of a Nation to a professional editor and would appreciate your reviews too.
The book is 129,000 words...a bit lengthy, so curious as to whether it can serve as part I and II. I am in the process of reading, reading, reading to earn points, but would be grateful if you would join and follow along as I post more chapters. For now, the first chapter, The Corpse is posted and I value your professional input.
Looking forward to working with many of you.
Kindly,
EWH

I often times use Google Earth Pro to zoom in on landscapes. The application provides you the ability to pin point areas and fly over the terrain to see what it looks like from many perspectives. This allows me to create realistic battle scenes. Battle scenes require visual landmarks for the reader to understand how characters are moving in the story. I also use it to determine elevations in relation to my medieval cities and kingdoms.
Once I have studied terrain on Google Earth Pro, I turn to Inkarnate.com, https://next.inkarnate.com/login/
This is a great website with features which allow you to build 3D maps. It has many features and is very easy to use.
Creating maps and saving Google Earth Pro images to my desktop further draws me into the real and creative landscapes of my characters. This further enhances my ability to write scenes that are believable and engaging for my readers.
