This is fantastic news Jack, it's such a great story. If I don't finish it before its removed I'll just have to buy it

I imagine they're the outlier in this. There are always exceptions, and I'm sure they have plenty of agents who would be interested in the author, but perhaps not the posted work. Still, it's appealing in a completely non-career minded way, just to have people read and enjoy your story.

So I'm curious about that. It's not "self-publishing" but would agents frown on it?

I think many of us may be guilty of it. I know I am.
A friend of mine recently posted about feeling out of place, like she wasn't good enough. She is starting her second year of a PhD program at Auburn and shes' brilliant.
There's a thin line between modesty and feeling like a fraud because you can't internalize your own talents. Never feeling like what you do compares to others you admire.
I've read a lot of people here over the last month and a half and I just want to extend a broad kudos to you all. You're all talented writers, and even as I read through books in genres I've never sought, I find enjoyment.
I'm impressed by you all, so please don't feel like my friend studying history at Auburn. Realize your own talents, realize you belong.

You are all wonderful and I just wanted to say thank you.
I've been here roughly a month, I think a little more now. TNBW is now a home I go to multiple times a day, either to review or to cut up my writing.
I came after working and re-working a book I'd spent about a year and a half on. My first book, the first thing I'd written with any sincerity since high school. I thought it was good, I thought it was ready, and then the first reviews and critiques came in. A handful of harsh, a sprinkling of compliments, and a heap of honesty flowed from some of the great minds here.
There's a bit of embarrassment now, looking at some of the chapters I've posted, seeing the common and often silly mistakes I've made but I didn't see them before I came here, and now I have the luxury to fix them, to improve, grow, and learn.
I went from seeking publication to sitting in a classroom listening to the teacher, and I think it's been the best thing for me and my career. I adore all of you for your love of writing and reading. The time you put into your critiques astounds me and I will be forever grateful to it.
Jack, Karin, Ann, MJ, Justen, CJ, John H., Seabrass, Sherry, Randall, John M., JJ Smiley - Thank you all!
I am grateful to learn from you all, thank you for making me a better writer.

Welcome David,
I'm fairly new myself, and the short time I've been here feels like the best decision I've ever made for my career. You'll enjoy yourself here.

Topic: Your Muse (5 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Hey all,
I'm curious, what inspires you during a writing session?
Do you need silence?
Do you listen to music? What kind?
Do you write inside or outside?
Do you multi-task while you write or do you hone in?
Answer however you want, the questions above are just suggestions to get this started. For me, my muse has always been music. Back to the first time I started writing as a teenager. Breaking Benjamin was a huge inspiration for me and I find myself listening to similar music when writing scenes.
