My killer is hiding in the cemetery and the area is pretty old and there's a lot of dead leaves around unvisited graves. He's the grounds keeper. Can the cops track him through the leaves?

I was wondering on a cold night can you leave footprints after jumping from a tree on to grass where the dirt is hard?
the scene below is mine:
“That’s right. He fell when the limb broke.”
“Who?”
“Patrick, the young man in my jeep. He only gave me his first name.”
“I see. Go on,” said Officer Powell as Officer Saxton walked over to the place where Patrick fell and saw the broken limb. He shined his flashlight over the ground to see if there was any foot prints but the ground was hard and none was visible.

Allenl - Thank you, love the nicknames will be using them.
Next question: Can detectives share sensitive information with a private investigator?
One of my Detectives - A.J. shows my PI - Adam some evidence against the victim - Patrick in the case. A.J. tells Adam he suspects Patrick was the ring leader and is now a suspect.

Thank you all for your help.
The scene was my PI Adam went to his employee Justin's condo after finding out his he's been kidnapped. Adam lies to get into the condo to look around for clues but is caught by the police. I wrote he told the officers who he was but they still took his gun and handcuffed him. When the two detectives in charged arrived they vouched for him and he was released.

Can a cop take a detective's gun from him even when he shows ID if the cop catches him in someone's home that the detective never had permission to be in?

16 Blocks with Bruce Wells because he was washed up and for some reason wanted to get that guy to the court house even if it meant going through other cops.

Hello I'm writing a suspense novel that its main character is a PI. I've been writing this for more than a year. I want to turn it into a series but want to use correct police procedures. I hope this group will guide me in the right direction.
