Janet,

Go to pennsic.net.  They have a photo album that I use to show people what the pennsic war is like.  And you are totally invited!  Are you kidding?  Everybody who ever reviewed me is invited.  My dream is to make a feast for my friends (they get to help cook it, BTW).  We'll have a camel stuffed with goat/ rice/ stuffed with chickens and rice.  It serves at least 300 and takes about three days to cook.  One of my friends found the recipe.  There will also be a lot of other non-meat options.  Some day...  Well, everybody needs to have a dream.

The group I camp with is an eating household.  (As opposed to service, crafting, or fighting households) We have a bread oven made of ceramic bricks and stuffed with mud to insulate.  We can bake  pizza, bread and cookies in addition to the typical stews you make with dutch ovens.  It isn't one of the pretty camps that you'll see in the pictures, but you can't beat dinner :-)

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Wow!  This is taking it to the next level!  And I'm so with your group - bread, pizza and cookies.  You don't have to say anything more!  smile

You're invited to dinner whenever you show up.  Would love to talk shop and writing around a campfire!  We'll see if we can get K to get a passport and get across the border.  Unlikely, but maybe if there is free food...

Curious, how do you power your laptop or whatever device it is you use to write ....  Or are you guys cheating and have all the luxuries of the 21st century still?!

Yep, the sun is shining over here.  And it's a typical Perth summer's day today, 39 degrees in the shade (39 degrees C, for you guys it would be more like a 102).  So we're staying out of the shade today!  wink

We don't have power in our camp (Though some camps do).  We're hypocrites.  We avoid the plague, hygiene, and sewage issues in favor of comfort, hand sanitizer and portapotties.  However, several people in my camp have solar panels for charging their phones.  For larger electronics, you can charge them for free if you volunteer at the information desk.  There are a variety of other options.  Since I rarely have time to write while I'm there, I usually just bring a notebook and a pencil, write a few pages and then copy them down when I get home.  The whole war lasts 2 weeks, so it is kind of a vacation from everything (including computers) for me.

Amy, on your short story. Not even so much, "take stuff out" as emphasis the yelling more, and maybe even other ways you've changed.

Heh, I see K fell over after training his tech-guy in India.  Tired after a long night at work?  I feel for ya buddy.  Flipping from day to night is killer.  My son woke me up a 3 am today, bright as a shiny new car and ready to play games.

Instead, I made him do homework in exchange for breakfast.  Sometimes, a hungry child is a good thing.

Oh, everybody, I FINALLY finished the new chapter of Mandates.  Does anyone have a free moment to take a look?

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

note to self - I have to start with mandates asap ...  Anyway, it was awesome talking to you and K the other day (or night)!  smile

LOL, yeah, we make ours do work for food and shelter!  big_smile

Amy,

Don't worry about reviewing me right now. I'm not really work shopping at the moment. But if you'll just keep me in mind when I start posting Fw2 I'd appreciate it!

Done.  Say the word.  PS...  I like having a real picture of you instead of a cameo of muddy feet!

Please let me know too, although I'm keeping one eye open when I sleep for bimmy posts!

ps - I like your style.  It reminds me of someone else who also reviewed for months before they posted anything and by the time "they" did, "they" had lots of writers feeling heaps guilty about not having been able to recip and feeling as if they were waayyyyy behind!  hehehe

New Jersey,

Wanted to say that I integrated your changes.  All except one or two made it into the revision.  That chapter was a tougher since I was describing a completely new environment.  I think that is why it took so long to get this one completed.  i learned a lot from that review about my 'placement' descriptions.  Thanks!

New Jersey,

I'm just reread your idea of Horse following Kha as Sil is dragged behind Kha on a travois.  I think there would be a meal of horsemeat after that.   Still makes me smile.  I love vexing Kha.

You gotta have Horse show up when Kha needs him for something else!

Hey folks,

I posted another short story...this time about work.  It's low effort and only a page.  Let me know if there is a way to make this better or increase the punch.

Owe you!
