Hi, thought I'd start a sub thread of Golden Tips for those of us laid out on the rack of literary fiction.
Three podcasts that have had me slavering lately are
New Yorker Fiction
New Yorker Writers and
The Paris Review.

All are extremely useful in hearing from the best writers about practices  to improve the quality of our work.
All are available for free on the Apple Podcast app.

Revel on!

Yup, both rhymezone nd urban dictionary are incredibly useful. Marram Webster seems to have redesigned its website and has a very instructive feature in its thesaurus which explains the nuances of synonyms branching from your word search.
I've also found a free mindmap app for Mac which allows me to - not automatically, thank god - generate fresh metaphors and imagery.

Only due to the dire need for a good chuckle do I venture to post this. Apparently it comes from a 1958 issue of MAD magazine. Here goes.
Lone Ranger and Tonto are riding across the great plains. Then, on the horizon, an enormous army of Indians appear on horseback. They charge. As they near screeching  and whooping the Lone Ranger and Tonto can see them loaded up with bows and arrows and tomahawks.  The horses hooves are thundering. The Indians are getting nearer.  The Lone Ranger turns to his faithful friend and shouts
“Tonto! Tonto! What are we going to do?"
"We?" asks Tonto.

Whittled down from the version I dug up on the net. I love the punchy last line of this and the cross-cultural  aspect of the scene.

Thought I'd break the ice and two year silence (seems last comment was posted 2 years  back) . Hope to scratch backs and have mine scratched in return. Lucky enought to stumble upon a very promising piece of writing in my first hour on the site.

NB
Oops. The two year silence, thang? The first of many blunders.
