Topic: Audio book

My publisher called me yesterday to tell me The Girl from Belgrade has been accepted for publication in audio form by Blackstone Audio. Don’t have a date for it yet - has to be synched with the print and ebook release date - but I was pleased to learn I’ll get a signing bonus of $400!

I’ll keep the book on site until the publication date.

Re: Audio book

Woohoo! Congratulations and nicely done!

Re: Audio book

Re: Audio book

Thanks, guys! My last audio book process was far different. I and the publisher had to audition the speakers for the novel and pick one. Then arrange for the production. Now, you submit the book to an audio publisher that does all that work. Personally, I prefer a physical book to read, but then again, I’m not planning any road trips in the future.

No road trips planned to promote your book? :-)

I prefer to stay close to home and do online promos, Dirk, but if Hollywood wants to talk about a movie, I’ll be on the next plane!

Re: Audio book

Thanks, Don. Appreciated!

Re: Audio book

Wow!  Great news, Jack.  Let us know when it's available.  Congratulations!

Re: Audio book

Many congrats, Jack! Well done!

Re: Audio book

Thanks, Marilyn, Randall! The book is through the content-editing and line-editing stages. Proofreading, fact-checking and cover  design remain. And, of course, putting together the audio book when that’s done. Still hope all that will be finished this year. Will let you know when the release date has been established.

Re: Audio book

Congrats on the full house. Take care. Vern

Re: Audio book

Thanks, Vern.

Re: Audio book

Keep it up and congrats. As the writer do you have any veto over the narrator. Tread carefully the reader makes all the difference to an audiobook that will do well. Motherless Broklyn (Geoffrey Cantor) , recent Madam Bovary (Juliet Stevenson) and Letters from the Dead House (Nicholas Boulton)  Mark Twain's ouevre  (Grover Gardner) shows you some of the stellar performers available.

Good question. The last time I did an audio book, the publisher and I auditioned the narrators and mutually decided on one. I'm not sure about the veto power the publisher (or I) have now that another company will be producing the audio version, but I assume we have some oversight. We'll see.

Re: Audio book

Congratulations Jack. I'm sure the audiobook will do great, and I also look forward to buying and hearing it. Curt
