American Vampire in Muncie (2)

This is a vampire story with something of a twist. It is a rewrite of the short story with the same name (minus the (2)), taking advantage of comments I received here and elsewhere. I have formatted it as two chapters because it it too long to post as a single short story. I am particularly interested in people who are willing to review both versions, and tell me what they think of my rewrite.
