STICKING IT TO THE 'SUREKILL'

This was my piece of fiction I entered in the "Weekender Challenge" from the prompt on the theme "after the rain." Besides the theme the sponsor also mandates the word count, in this case, 1,500 words. It is hard to write a short story in a weekend with a forced prompt when one's muse is on vacay...though I have heard some people do write a novel in a weekend contests. Don't know if this works on any level. Familiar theme (I hope I get some new readers on this) Your feedback is welcome. Even though any edits are too late for the contest, I can shape up this piece and use again if it has potential.
