Snow in August Chapter 1

Chris Jameson is a very respectable British subject, representing an engineering firm at the Leipzig Fair in the mid-1950s, who has become engaged in a smuggling enterprise. He works with an acquaintance called Hans whose family were refugees from Nazism. Hans returned home to Germany from Britain after the war. Chris gets himself mixed into political intrigue, murder and romance. He doesn't really know how he got into it all and is totally without any notion how he is going to come out of it; but, at least, he has a great time with Lise.
