Annabelle and Lenore

I've come to an impass with the Rhiannon stories; my publisher told me that they are too farcical these days. I've decided to create a new series, one with Annabelle and Lenore. Not completely mystery, it is also science fiction, perhaps fantasy, perhaps horror. Two girls, whose history we have to unravel,with unusual powers have to survive in the meaan streets of a coastal city. Their background may plung them into another dimension, or it may plunge them into a roman noir. Need to know about how the characterization, the timing, the theme, the language works.
