Time Will Tell

I'm reading a Stephen White novel and a character makes the statement "time will tell." I thought it was simple, but profound. I was trying to take a nap, and the poem came to me quickly, so I jotted it down on a bill envelope on the nightstand. It's based on a cliche, of course, but cliches are often based on truth. Let me know if you can get past the cliches and appreciate it, and find truth in it, too.
