Trophy (OOB #3)

This is the third in a series of vignettes and short stories centered at Old Orchard Beach, Maine's, amusement park. Published previously were "Eureka, He Says (OOB #1) and "Cathy Who Walks with Ghosts (OOB #2). This third installment again leans more toward the vignette genre, so feedback on characterization, mood, imagery, figurative language, and overall effect would be great.
