In 1957, a supposed Brazilian friend with an ulterior motive lures a young American to Brazil in order to take advantage of a get-rich-quick-scheme. Brian Scherer swallows the bait, and plunges into an adventurous odyssey. But step-by-step after his arrival in South America, he becomes entangled in a web of treachery, smuggling, sexual romps, plus an international kidnapping, all of which, causes a bitter diplomatic confrontation between the United States and Brazil.
