Can One Eat Her Cake and Have It

A friend of mine, whom I consider a brilliant writer, wrote a poem lamenting his recent gain of several pounds. He used the Bard's scathing words in Hamlet's rant to Ophelia in which he harshly tells her "...get thee to a nunnery..." as a pattern for his own soliloquy in which he harshly berates himself for his "getting to the bunnery" too often; hence his extra pounds. My friend's clever poem inspired me to reply to his lament/rant, and in doing so I was able to correct one of Life's biggest(I couldn't help it!) misconceptions: "One can't eat his cake and have it too".
