Summary:MY APPOLOGIES TO ANYONE WHO READ THE CHAPTERS Nick's Abilities,,The Tornado and Capture and Rescue out of order. I inadvertly skipped posting several chapters. ALSO, I'VE NOW DROPPED THE GAME AND CUT TWO SCENES. Between my edits and my screw-up in posting the chapters no longer reflect the reviews to some extent. Thank you for reading. R.M.
|Founders||graymartin||Novel||4||n/a||Sep 9, 2014|
Summary:Born a lowly Settler, sixteen-year-old Wil isn't supposed to have the Gift, but he does. Like the Great One himself, he can sift the minds of those around him, probing every hidden thought. The Gift has transformed his life, lifting him from a Settler's Camp to the Guardian Academy - an elite school where young Sifters learn how to use their power. He's been taught that Guardians are a force for good, charged with protecting the people of Neoden from the evil of selfish thought. But when he and his fellow cadets come under attack, those beliefs shatter. Why would the Settlers he's been sent to protect want to kill him? When a voice from the past reaches out to him, he's forced to face a new and terrifying possibility: maybe powerful evil still exists in the world. And maybe he's becoming a part of it. I'm especially interested to hear whether or not the story, characters and dystopian world hook you. Is the world-building interesting or cliche? Same question for the main characters. Nits, of course, are always welcome! Thanks!
|Black Pony Adventures, collection of short stories||MrsPiddles||Novel||2||n/a||Aug 26, 2014|
Summary:After I launched my first Black Pony story I hosted an art contest. Winning sketches would be used to illustrate chapters in the next book. The contest was such a hit that an entire class of first graders sent in sketches. No way could I choose just one, so I wrote a short story for each sketch. (Yes, full permission of the parents for publishing) All of the stories deals with some little issue. I may not post all eighteen stories, the book must be on the shelf by September. But some of the tougher ones need more work. I appreciate any suggestions, big or small, and all the feedback I can garner. Thanks for reading, MzP
|Legend of the Superstition Gold - rewrite||MrsPiddles||Novel||0||n/a||Jul 31, 2014|
Summary:People gone missing, ghost stories, legends, and The Lost Dutchman Goldmine. Danger abounds, yet twelve year old Annie and her Welsh pony, Midnight, can’t wait to join the Shadow Riders in their yearly overnight trek into the beautiful wilderness. But Annie’s telepathic connection with her pony, and the pony’s ability to communicate as all animals do, reveal the secret protected through centuries by The Thunder God of the Apache Nation. Annie and her pony are swept away in a rockslide, bound to ‘go missing’ like hundreds of hikers before her. However, miraculously she survives. Transported to a foreign time and place, separated from her beloved Midnight, Annie must overcome pain and fear to confront the evil young medicine woman, Dark Cloud, and learn the truth of the Superstition Gold. After struggling for ten days, Annie and Midnight are reunited and make their escape. Finding their way back to the riding club, she finds that only minutes have past. Only instead of enjoying campfire stories under a full moon, the moon is in its last quarter. This is the third story in the Black Pony Adventures, a story about a pony who finally meets the right rider, and Annie, who finally meets that one special horse. Is she a horse whisperer? Maybe, but for sure she can hear Midnight’s thoughts, and he can hear hers. Books one and two, The Black Pony and Midnight and the Race Horse, were self-published through Create Space near the end of 2013. Although this is a series, it is not a trilogy and each book refers to other books, but is not dependent on them. The audience is 9-12, topic for all books is horses with emphasis on barrel racing, trail riding, and dealing with real life issues. Give me whatever suggestions strike you. I've made corrections based on your comments, but there's always room for improvement. This is a story within a story, so the first few chapters may come across as a bit slow, but don’t miss a word.
