 | Cyber Seduction | kevdarts | Poetry | 4 | 0.34 | Mar 9, 2010 |
Summary:This is my first attempt at poetry in years...I welcome even the most fundamental advice. Interesting that my search for a new and better computer would inspire a poem. It got me thinking how computers capture our senses, attention and time...until they stop working so well, and we start looking at that hot new model that works so much better. The comparison with the dirty old man dumping his old girl for a sweet young thing was too much to resist. Chapters: |

 | My Best Friend Jack | Flatlander | Poetry | 4 | 0.42 | Mar 8, 2010 |

 | The Real Hollywood (revisited) | Odin Roark | Poetry | 3 | 0.85 | Mar 8, 2010 |
Summary:The Academy Awards partially vindicated itself last night with recognition of fictional truth over political truth--that bottom-line-rule aspect of Hollywood which, more often than not, seems to dominate acknowledgment. With several of the awards, and especially Hurt Locker and Precious, we as writers were left with optimism relative to smaller, important issues receiving the deserved recognition. One could argue that last night suggested The Real Hollywood was made to further contemplate their responsibility to audiences over and above creating "just" worthwhile mainstream entertainment. It could be further argued that the Best Screenplay, Director and Picture served as a worthy model of taste and execution for the ethical future of cinema.Chapters: |

Summary:For Rlvs, whose challenge to write something about animals I did not see until the contest was over. Inspired by Flowing Pencil who telescoped two poems into one (separated here like yolks from egg whites) and believes haiku should create a mood, an atmosphere, not try to tell a story.
