 | Tips for Tourists | pannastra | Short Story | 6 | 0.41 | Feb 7, 2012 |
Summary:You may wonder why this item of intense literature is posted in the ‘humor’ genre, as it may be considered as being of a very serious nature.
Au contraire, mon ami. If I did not appreciate and laugh at such matters, I would be unable to enjoy my new life in Spain.
(For those not in the know, a 'Zebra Crossing' is a pedestrian road crossing, usually indicated by broad black/white stripes on the road.)
Your observations, applause, criticisms and suggestions will all be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 | GLADYS KIDNAPPED SIX | kyla | Short Story | 10 | 0.96 | Feb 4, 2012 |
Summary:Gladys Tripalong has it all; a loving son, when he's speaking to her, two devoted sisters, when they’re not ticked at her. And Joe Little, her lover. Life’s good—that is…until she’s kidnapped.
Previously: She turns butt towards the window. One at a time, she maneuvers her feet out the window. Hands gripping the window ledge, she slides her body down. It’s awkward and far more difficult than she had anticipated. But it’s working! SHIT! Her big boobs wedge on the window ledge! She wiggles and jiggles but all that accomplishes is to tilt her wig—now she can only see out of one eye.
If she can get one hand free, she can pull the smelly
garbage out of her bra and get the hell out of there.
She hears the door open. SHIT! Should have locked it
From her available eye, she watches a burly man enter the bathroom.
The man sees the disheveled woman dangling out the window by her boobs.
The burly man, who looks like Marlon Brando gone badly, cleans the mirror.
“So—how’s it hanging, Lucille?”
As always, feedback is appreciated!Chapters: |

 | American Mid-West Folklore & Humor: A few short Stories | John Byram | Novel | 1 | n/a | Jan 29, 2012 |
Summary:This is an anthology of folklore and humorus short stories that come from the American Mid-West. These are the stories parents and grandparents tell their children. They are stories the old guys who hang around the barber shop tell. Some have a moral, some are just for entertainment. Some are based on actual events and some are just made up. These stories are seldom written down and die out in three or four generations. The stories in this collection are stories I believe to be worth saving. These stories can be read in any order.Chapters: |
 | Tony's Downfall | pannastra | Short Story | 7 | 0.90 | Jan 29, 2012 |
Summary:This actually wasn’t at all funny at the time, but hindsight is truly wonderful for seeing the humorous side of life. And I cannot deny that I have 'milked it' since, to many of our friends (I am not cruel by nature, but my nearest and dearest is not the most sympathetic of persons).
* So a bit of fun (which one of my TMBW 'friends' has forced me to submit) and I would really appreciate feedback on it, in case I should consider including it in a "collection" of Shorts at some future time. Chapters: |

 | Your Penis Goes Where? | Doug Moore | Short Story | 19 | 1.80 | Jan 23, 2012 |
Summary:Recently I had a talk about how babies are made with my twin ten year old boys. It was a lot of fun -- for me. The boys seemed okay with it by the end. Anyway, this is a fictionalized version of how things went. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Any and all comments are welcome.

 | GLADYS KIDNAPPED FOUR AND FIVE | kyla | Short Story | 8 | 1.63 | Jan 23, 2012 |
Summary:On May 21, 1984, Gladys Tripalong, during her lunch break from her position at the SLOBS Senior Lodge, disappeared. Kidnapped by bank robbers, Big Dick and Nick, Gladys was spirited out of Canada. Big Dick said they had to get her out of the country because they were afraid she’d tell her boyfriend Joe that they are into banking. They don’t want to be incarcerated, so for insurance, they’re going to teach her how to parallel park, and force her, once again, to chauffeur them from job to job.
All feedback and suggestions gratefully appreciated.Chapters: |

Summary:Wrote this for a Writer's Dash. Any feedback appreciated. Don't even know what genre to put in it. But I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Took all of 10 minutes. The funny thing was, I misunderstood the prompt. It was supposed to be about a tree. (There was a guy in a cowboy outfit present and the facilitator yelled the title word as a joke, and I misunderstood. Oh, well.)Chapters: |
 | GLADYS KIDNAPPED THREE | kyla | Short Story | 13 | 2.39 | Jan 16, 2012 |
Summary:Devoted to her son and close to her two sisters, Gladys is nevertheless her own person. A Gemini, she is strong willed calm, high strung, confident and clumsy. If you believe her fanciful memoirs, she was kidnapped by gypsies…for a period of time when she was ten years old. She claims to have been reincarnated several times; once as an Indian princess.
She is raising her son Daniel on her own. She is in love with a detective. Her career choices have been interesting, challenging and varied. She is determined to be a trapeze performer, if not in this life, then the next. Gladys and her sisters Carol and Ev share their lives as much as possible, and enjoy their ‘wine’ get-togethers. An unexpected event is about to change her future forever.
******
On May 21, 1984, Gladys Tripalong, during her lunch break from her position at the SLOBS Senior Lodge, disappears.
Kidnapped by Big Dick and Nick, Gladys is soon eight hours down the road from her home town of Claymont, Alberta. They tell her they have no choice but to get her out of Claymont because Joe, her new boyfriend, is a detective, and they need to protect their asses from possible incarceration.
Through the rear view mirror, she scowled at Big Dick. “I didn’t want Joe to know I was so dumb to believe you had legitimate reasons to hurry from your banks to the airport every other day. I haven’t told a living soul that you are bank robbers.”

Summary: Instinct tells me to let Wayne disappear into obscurity but, as I have been asked to write another, well, here it is. I hope it is as well received as the first Wayne. Please let me know what you think and, as usual, point out nits, errors and just plain bad writing! Thanks. Chapters: |

 | Birth of an Angel | Erndog | Novel | 4 | n/a | Jan 14, 2012 |
Summary:Summary: This story is about Anna Ryan who dies and goes to Heaven, and finds that it is a lot different than what she expected. I chose humor for the category, but it also includes social commentary from an iconoclastic point of view. It is from a largely "Christian" point of view, but have included many other spiritual and religious factions as they seem to fit in with American society. If you are deeply religious, you likely won't appreciate this story - so avoid it.
I'd like feedback on structure and mechanics. I have edited this six or seven times, but you know how difficult it is to edit your own stuff. Please point out the areas I need to focus on. Oh, and most important, your reaction to the story is also appreciated.
I wrote this story sometime after the ethnic cleansing of the Serbia-Croatian war which really hacked me off, as does war in general.
The complete story is two chapters.

Summary:Okay! Its bad! Really bad! But working on my entry Anna's Story has me pulling out my hair so ... it is time to play and God know I can waste some credits.
I wanted to do a really good job on this an make it about four verses but then, I took pity and kept it at two!
I do have a kind bone in my body.

 | Spanish Stuff 2 | pannastra | Short Story | 5 | 1.33 | Jan 12, 2012 |
Summary:This is a follow-up to Spanish Stuff 1. Following up on a conversation between Fran and Eileen. Slightly more descriptive than number 1, but the short stories might progress to novel status depending on what the future holds and what feedback I get from reviewers. Let me know where it works, or doesn’t and if descriptions are adequate, inadequate or over the top. All comments will be gratefully appreciated.Chapters: |
