Summary:It's a little humor and a little horror. Not sure what genre to put it under.
Anyway, I'm putting together a book of short stories from the zombie, halloween, and other short stories I've published here for various contests. I do have to warn you that you shouldn't read a couple of the zombie stories with a mouthful of milk. I never write serious zombie stories. I'm thinking I'll break the book down by sections: Missing Parts, Dark Hearts, and No, I'm Sane, Honest!

Summary:Entry for humour contest. Any and all suggestions for improvement are appreciated, but only if you have a sense of humor. PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST HUMOR COMES FROM OUR DIFFERENCES IN SEX, COLOR, NATIONALITY, RELIGION, ETC. WELL, THIS IS REGIONAL HUMOR AND AIN'T POLITICALLY CORRECT, SO, IF YOU ARE FROM NORTH OF THE MASON-DIXON LINE AND EASILY OFFENDED, WELL, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, WE SOUTHERNERS MAKE FUN OF YANKEES JUST AS THEY DO US, WE JUST DO IT BETTER. BUCK UP AND GET OVER IT AND PERHAPS AIR YOUR GRIEVANCES IN A REVIEW IF YOU WISH. ALL THE INCIDENTS IN THE STORY ARE TRUE BTW, AND DESPITE OURSELVES, ALL THE CHARACTERS LIVE IN HARMONY - WELL, FOR THE MOST PART. Hope you enjoy, especially my YANKEE FRIENDS. Take care.Chapters: |

 | Family Reunion | F. Jo Bruce | Short Story | 7 | 1.49 | Mar 10, 2013 |
Summary:In the Deep South, nothing is more important than family reunions. These events are a once-a-year or not that often, of coming together to see everyone, how much the children have grown, talk about the ones who aren't there and why.
In "Family Reunion" two cousins in the family home town set the date, make the arrangements and host the reunion. Together, these ladies know everything about everybody in the family. They work hard to make a good presentation, can't wait to see various cousins, aunts and uncles, and assorted children. They also can't wait for them to leave and to be able to talk about everyone before and aft. No matter how bad someone is put down, a smile and hug will greet them upon arrival.
Feedback I'm looking for is how much the story was enjoyed or not, if it is entertaining, and most of all if it pulls you in and/or takes you back to something or somewhere in your life. Chapters: |
