Summary:This is Book Two of the Spirit Mage Saga, following Book One, which was "Journey To Landaran." Aidah and Tavish have made it to Landaran, but their troubles are hardly over. Rangwar and his troops are gathered outside the city, and the magical defenses that have long protected the realm are crumbling. Aidah and Tavish know they must train quickly to deal with their enemies. |Josepha; A Dull Life||Genevieve Fosa||Novel||1||n/a||Oct 27, 2014|
Summary:There is a lot in this first chapter that I probably will not include in the final version. I simply sat down and started writing in order to get the juices flowing. Even so, I would very much enjoy getting some feedback on this. The story involves paranormal activity and time travel, and I have been writing it in order to entertain myself, so it should be fun to read. Thank you in advance for you input. Genevieve
|The World Of Phyries||Jube||Novel||4||n/a||Oct 20, 2014|
Summary:As a recent member to TNBW site, this will be my very first offering for review (fingers crossed). This is a work of fantasy where a world was created in imitation of Earth. Different races and supernatural creatures have traveled to this world in search of a new beginning. I hope you will enjoy following Talmas and his friends as they will grow to find fate has chosen them for a different path than those around them. The feedback I am interested in is: 1. content - did this introductory chapter seem interesting? 2. Suggestions on any different word or sentences that work better are welcome. 3. Did it make sense or is there anything that you felt seemed confusing as the reader? I envision this storyline rolling out to around 50 chapters of course I won't know until I get there.
|The Day of Darkness||Stefanie Dubois||Novel||4||n/a||Oct 19, 2014|
Summary:Teenaged brothers, Sam and Micky, survive a doomsday their father had predicted. But a second disaster is coming and the key to another survival lay coded within his hand-written journal of prophecies. This is a story that was critiqued through this website years ago. I've done many edits and would like a final read-through for feedback. I'm looking for anything wrong, ie: grammar, confusions, bad word choices.
|The Sorcerer's Progress, Book 1: Children and Beasts||njc||Novel||1||n/a||Oct 15, 2014|
Summary:Provisional titles so far: The Sorcerer's Progress/Account I: Original Sin/Section 1: Ceremony of Innocence/Book 1: Children and Beasts. I'm now going through it in a big rewrite. There will be a lot of churn, and some sections will be reworked out of order. I hope to get the scenes properly intercut into their chapters, but I have some major design work to do around Merran's training I'm also changing a name or two and some of the spellings. Although it's under the fantasy genre, I prefer to call it a story set in a fantasy world. It's quasi-medieval; sorcery is a surrogate for medicine and technology. This isn't the magic of Harry Potter; it's the manipulation of Elemental Power present "naturally." I quote the word because there is a creation myth involved. I'm not sure how far into the story it will be presented.
|The Acts of Academia||amy s||Novel||1||n/a||Oct 7, 2014|
Summary:There are always politics and games to play in Academia, but Chief Apprentic Anver has to navigate through the unknown as he protects the other students. Master Kha is dying and orphaned students might be divided between the other six Masters presiding over the Guild. This can't be permitted because the other teachers are cruel, self-centered and just plain bad at teaching. To make it worse, Master Kha was the only one who accepted children. What happens to the Littles if Anver fails? Alone and unsupported, Anver manages to find unexpected trouble. A mystery begins to unravel. Welcome to magical academia!
|The Sorcerer's Progress, Book 2: Earth By Fire||njc||Novel||2||n/a||Oct 5, 2014|
Summary:The second volume of The Sorcerer's Progress. Although listed as Fantasy, I prefer to think of this as a story set in a fantasy world. // I have a lot of work to do yet back in Book 1, but the first chapter is rattling around in my mind and I wanted to get it out. // The title is provisional. I picked it a while ago, but because things have moved around, I might need to change it.
|The Last Grimoire||Linkun Chen||Novel||1||n/a||Sep 27, 2014|
Summary:This is mostly just for fun. The Last Grimoire (working title) is a crime noire written to a fantasy/scifi setting. I've never written anything in the fantasy or scifi genres before. But I've always wanted to, ever since I read Amy S's Acts of Academia. To get the most out of sampling my story, I recommend reading up to chapter 4, which is the end of the exposition. I'm willing to bet that it'll be worth the wait if you have the patience to get that far. (I'll upload chapter 4 on Friday around 5PM) Because of school, I don't have a lot of time to write. So nothing I've written so far has been edited. As of right now, the writing is pretty ugly, I know. I can do better, but because I'm not a natural writer (I've been told I'm more of a natural story-teller), it will take me some time to clean everything up. (Hopefully I'll have it written the way I want it by this weekend) I wanted to get the bones of my exposition done first. Because the writing is still so raw, any feedback would be great. But mostly, I want to know if you liked the story and would be interested reading more of it. If no one wants to read it, I'll move on the something else - maybe something more in my natural genre.
|Dictates of Faith||amy s||Novel||2||n/a||Sep 22, 2014|
Summary:Jaylene never asked to be a leader in her church; she wanted to live a life of service. Then the Lance chose her. The symbol of her Order was more than just a cavalry weapon; it was imbued with the essence of the goddess, Behira. Carrying it meant that Jaylene could call her Order to war. After touching the Lance, Jaylene became a general and she hated it. However, the rank carried a privilege that no one else enjoyed. She was allowed to choose her own priorities, looking for trouble and finding solutions. For a while, she helped a lot of people with the help of a group of friends who called themselves the "Wolves". Then a disaster happened and Jaylene died. Sometimes the second-life is more important than the first. In the world of Behira, miracles are only a breath away and hope is all that keeps the world from ending. Thanks for any time you can spend on this! Amy
|Spirits of the Land||NikkiWolf||Short Story||3||2.85||Sep 21, 2014|
Summary:I’m looking for character consistency as well as time frame. I wonder if the ending is believable. Also, I think my title could be better.
|Unraveled - working title||SquarePeg||Novel||4||n/a||Sep 10, 2014|
Summary:ROUGH start to the 3rd (& final) book in my fantasy series. Input keeps me going. Especially looking for ideas on ways to expand the story.
|The Mantle of Magic||amy s||Novel||1||n/a||Aug 28, 2014|
Summary:Separated by disaster, the Team known as the Wolves begins to find each other. A mage named Faulter has been exposed and knows how to kill a goddess. The city-wide Games take place this year, giving Faulter a chance to destroy a city in his search for revenge. Only the Wolves have the chance to solve the mystery in time to save their world. Threads of information begin to appear as Airen, a noblewoman and her priestess friend Jaylene run to help another Wolf named Kha. If they can reach him, there is a slim chance of saving the woman he loves. To anyone reading this, I'm not a sensitive soul who needs to be buffered. I'm seeking truth...brutal and honest critique. How else am I going to improve unless I know what needs to improve? Feel free to whack away. I look forward to your comments and critique. So you're aware, these chapters are in a loose format until I start to stitch the story together. Sorry about the non-linear format. This will improve as more of the story appears. Hit me!
|The Immortal's Ransom||TELawrence||Novel||1||n/a||Aug 13, 2014|
Summary:This is the sequel to Stolen Destiny, and continues the story of Blaine, a young man who changes the course of history.
|Death Watch||Sideman||Novel||3||n/a||Aug 12, 2014|
Summary:George McCutcheon unwillingly becomes the custodian of the "Death Watch" Should it ever run down and cease ticking, it will be the end of the world, as the Death Watch is the instrument that controls all mortal time. Various duties are incurred as the custodian of the watch. If George fails to do any of them correctly,or fails to wind the watch, it will cease to tick. Follow George on a desperate journey when the watch falls from his possession and the word gets darker and colder each day. If he doesn't find it within eight days, life on Earth is forever gone. For your reference, according to the U.S Bureau of Standards and Measurements, $1.00 in 1836 would be equal to $33.00 today. That might might help you to make sense of the money amounts mentioned throughout the book.
|Conversations with Bogue||sonny||Novel||2||n/a||Aug 9, 2014|
Summary:Title? Content? Development of story line? Clarity of writing?
