|Shock Me, a Purgatory novella #2||Susan Stec||Novel||0||n/a||Jul 20, 2014|
Summary:~~With dueling points of view, the author allows the reader firsthand knowledge of tempting desires destined for failure in a world where this union is unacceptable on both sides of Purgatory~~ She's a doppelgänger, a myth, a night-fright, and as singular in existence as an individual's dream—a demon's blunder. She has no name, no identity...unless she wears a human, but she's unwilling to kill her host as her elders strongly advise. She'd rather borrow a human life, entertain feelings of the flesh and then release her host. Until she met Gaire that was enough, but now she wants more than being a creature from Down Under and pretending to be a part of what's above the sewers of Purgatory. Gaire's a rogue. Moving from place to place and hiding from those who want to kill him has been his way of life for thirteen years, without a hitch. He can't fight what he is. They won't let him forget what he did. And because of that, he's sworn to never attempt another relationship...until he met CeCe. Now, on the run again, he can't stop thinking about the girl who has changed his life forever.
|The Sorcerer's Progress, Book 1: Children and Beasts||njc||Novel||1||n/a||Jul 19, 2014|
Summary:More of the story's themes are going to come out as I continue to post, so I'll give you the full (provisional) titles so far: The Sorcerer's Progress/Account I: Original Sin/Section 1: Ceremony of Innocence/Book 1: Children and Beasts. Sorry to confuse all who've reviewed it so far. The repub's and new chapters forthcoming will bring in Mellaen's activities while her daughter is in training. Massive action will still wait a while. This story is (still) in its early project stage. I'm working on the outline of a story that should WELL exceed 200,000 words. As I go, I write episodes and sections to see how they work--and to see if I can actually handle the material. So these "chapters" are episodes, connected or disconnected. I'll try to give you enough background to follow along with things. Although it's under the fantasy genre, I prefer to call it a story set in a fantasy world. It's quasi-medieval; sorcery is a surrogate for medicine and technology. This isn't the magic of Harry Potter; it's the manipulation of Elemental Power present "naturally." I quote the word because there is a creation myth involved. I'm not sure how far into the story it will be presented.
|First Transcendation of Time rewrite||Sheriff Norm||Novel||1||n/a||Jul 17, 2014|
Summary:It starts in a world where stars are living beings stranded in deep wells of space-time. They struggle to come to flatter space universes like ours where they can at last feel and see others of their kind. Danny is a famous scientist who is now ousted from his profession because of schizophrenia. He remembers being a baby star in this land. Jeanne is a bar girl working in the slums of Honolulu. She is unaware that she is the famous storyteller star who found a way to transcend time into flatter space universes. But disaster occurred. She propelled a baby star, unversed in the wise old star ways, to fall with her and who is destined to fall into nothingness forever. She switches places with him to save him from nothingness and now it is she who has lost her memory of the stars and is destined to nothingness. The heart of the story is Danny's desperate effort to make Jeanne aware of who she really is to save her from nothingness. My interest in mythology, metaphysics, cosmology, and quantum physics gets laced into this story creating a Cosmos I call the Mighty Valentine. In the end this is far more than a story of two stars who came to Earth. Theirs is the love story that ignited creation.
|Ghost of a Chance (Ghost Dance vol. 2)||Don_P_Chambers||Novel||2||n/a||Jul 15, 2014|
Summary:The sequel to "Ghost Dance", which was workshopped here last year. If you haven't read that, some parts of this may be confusing, although I try to include a few asides to explain some of the important plot points of the first book.
This is a first draft, so all comments, suggestions, and criticisms are welcome.
Please note -I have changed the ending of the first book from earlier drafts - Lydia and other members of Amara's family survive, and Ghost only destroys one star, not eight. He hides the other eight missiles, just in case.
