Summary:I have been asked to submit an essay for possible inclusion in a book about teaching. This book will be used to drive sales on a website in which teachers sell each other their teaching ideas and lesson plans. I was told to write about something I know how to do well. The essay presented here is my attempt to do so. Since this website is open to teachers from kindergarten through the University level, I chose a topic I hoped everyone could relate to. I should also point out that I am no fan of Bush's leftover legacy to teachers, the No Child Left Behind Act. I left the profession disgusted by the way it turned teaching into a homogenized, one-size-fits-all nightmare. I would appreciate any and all criticism. This needs to be submitted by April 1st. If it's an ineffective piece of drivel, I need to know now. Chapters: |

Summary:In going through my files I found this article that appeared in our local paper The Medford Mail Tribune. I wrote it in 1984 when the Feminist Movement was alive and well.
As I see the increasing sexualization of our young girls, I believe it is as relevant today as it was then.
One thing has changed for the better however--women of color are now represented and talent is coming to the fore if this year's winner, Caressa Cameron, is any indication.Chapters: |

Summary:After years on the site, recalling the experience of reading Street of Rogues became an impulsive itch I had to scratch. As my last stanza suggests, hopefully any and all will read this work and be inspired. I know that's what Mitch had in mind, and we can all benefit from the time spent drinking in this special slice of "survival's purpose."Chapters: |

Summary:Sometimes, the headlines become overwhelming and demand something more in us than a knee-jerk reaction. Making life perfect is not possible, but the striving toward a semblance of "right" should always remain the quest of a progressionist-minded being. Don't know why, but of late, pondering the world's developments (and lack of)became unavoidable--especially with the complexities of nature versus man with the planet's fate. Chapters: |

 | Take control over your financial future NOW! | Dur Shacho | Novel | 0 | n/a | Sep 17, 2009 |

It's primary objective is to challenge the reader to take responsibility for their own retirement, and begin a systematic plan of saving and investing.// The main character, John Durant, is a CFO for a local engineering company. He make's it his personal mission to spread the word that anyone with determination, reasonable intellengence, a few key principals and rules can be a successful investor.//Does he succeed? | The Multiple Abyss | james129067 | Novel | 1 | n/a | Sep 7, 2009 |
Summary:The Multiple Abyss was written some time ago. Perhaps with some or even quite a lot of editing, it still seems highly relevant and to have immediate purpose in the remedies it suggests for our many-sided national and global troubles. What I am looking for are opinions on what would be the value of its publication now. I will be happy with honest and thoughtful opinions or just knee-jerk reactions as they might be expressed in a bar with big-hearted drinking companions. Say it all please. It will all be appreciated.Chapters: |
 | From Tee to Green: A Meditation on Creativity & Sprirituality | Folio | Short Story | 5 | 1.79 | Jul 13, 2009 |
Summary:Taking a flier here. This is the text of a "sermon" I've delivered to several Unitarian churches in the Chicago area. Though it is meant to heard, not read, I thought it may be of interest to readers on this site. The four organizing "clubs" (soil, skill, signature, limits) of the essay are NOT mine. Rather, these four words are all that remain in my memory from a a presentation I heard many years ago by someone whose name I've long forgotten. Shame on me. If you have heard them used in a similar context and know who originated it, I would appreciate hearing from you. Chapters: |
