 | Ashen: Part Two | arthur nameless | Short Story | Science Fiction | 2 | 0.00 | Jan 20, 2012 |
Summary:Well... Here's the long awaited (hah) second half of my post apocalyptic story Ashen. The main character sets out on his journey across the desolate planet as an immortal. Let me know what you think of his thoughts on being immortal and his choices. I wrote this half and the first half quite some time apart so I'm not sure how well they'll fit.
Have fun :)Chapters: |

Summary:I am not fanatic about anything. I am passionate about almost anything I enjoy very much. I am not a religious person, but I am a Christian who lived almost 50 years knowing all about God from books, classes, being in church and whatever. After that age I met God and got to know him on a first name basis and I do enjoy writing about my faith. It is not to offend you but to share my joy hope you will enjoy it too. Chapters: |

 | A POEM FOR SYLVIE | flowing pencil | Poetry | Poetry | 10 | 0.61 | Jun 26, 2011 |
Summary:SECOND of five pieces written for children. This one has my four year old granddaughter in mind. Her name is Sylvia. She was very ill last few days and ended up in hospital. She is home now and her mama got to read this to her last night before she went to sleep.
While it may read better presented differently, I have to use my own style and voice lest it not be their grandmother. Make any sense? Surely could be more technically correct but that could spoil it. Maybe not!Chapters: |
 | THE WORLD WAS TOO MUCH WITH HER | farfinagle | Poetry | Editorial and Opinion | 9 | 0.86 | Apr 18, 2011 |
Summary:I once had an acquaintence whose sister committed suicide and murder by taking her life and the lives of her children. In her suicide note, she stated she couldn't stand the thought of them living without her. What causes seemingly rational people to do monstrous things? And why do other people manage to surmount and survive monstrous circumstances? Perhaps the answer lies in interpretation - both personal and societal. Chapters: |

Summary:This poem came to me today. It is the first full length poem I've written in several years. It was almost haunting to write. I had a few remaining points on my account and was moved to share it. All I can ask is that all that see this poem, appreciate today, now, family success and dreams.
And the larger excuse is that I miss everyone.Chapters: |

Summary:My writing penchant is humour, so this one is unusual for me, but had to be written. Whether I should have posted it on tNBW is another matter.
I find the saturation promotional advertising of up-coming tv programs to be extremely irritating. One in particular that was doing the rounds really p'd me off. As I lay in bed one night trying to sleep I got quite incensed. I could not sleep until I had grabbed my laptop computer and wrote down what was bounding around inside my skull.
This is the result.Chapters: |

How it feel sometimes on your own as a woman. Perhaps as a man also?
Mainly what emotions evoke and any technical help offered is always welcome as a mere student of writing.
What about punctuation? I have some but not all the way through. To me it cluttered it. Due to one very late reader I added a comma and thank her very much! Help!

Summary:my first cousin died recently of a drug overdose. This poem is how I dealt with the grief.
I am interested in how the style is perceived as this is a comfortable writing style for me.
This is the first time I have posted work on this forum and I am grateful for the reviews. I am grateful for the editing comments by kiwi & ulli as I have incorporated them into my piece. My first time listening to constructive editing advice. There maybe hope for me yet. To you other kind people, thanks for your comments. I will be sharing this poem at a family reunion today. Hopefully it will bring perspective & healing...
