Summary:THE SANTA CLAUS FOUNDATION follows the chronology from the Saint Nicholas of Myra legends to our modern Santa Claus. Fact and fiction collide in this 65,000 word count, five-part historical adventure.
The characters range from (Part I) Nicholas who travels to Bari, Italy and meets two reformed pirate brothers who help him with charity work, to (Part II) Cobus and Pieter, cousins who play Sinterklaas in Holland and decide to immigrate to America in the late 1700’s and discover the secret of the Wards of Saint Nicholas. In Part III, Trip Tangle is a young street tough who, for the sake of unity, bans with Ivis, a New York City Aristocrat. The two work to bridge poor and rich together in time for Christmas. Christian Richter (the protagonist of Part IV), better known to his friends as Chris Cringle, is a widowed, German immigrant to the United States who is asked to play the first Store Santa Claus. His little friends Charlie, Lilly and Mary help him along the way. In the final piece (Part V), Giuseppe Belardi finds out he’s more than just a poor young Italian-born dreamer. He discovers how he is linked to Saint Nicholas and the three maidens, and the Santa Claus Foundation is born.
The book is full of colorful references to historical figures and anecdotes including the Callithumpians of New York, Clement Moore’s The Night Before Christmas, Chris Cringle, and Befana, the kindly Christmas Witch of Italy. In this time of hardship on so many families, this book teaches us what’s truly important at Christmastime. Anyone who enjoys a feel-good Christmas read will treasure this book.

Summary: The first three chapters have been revised and rearranged for the strongest start competition. The novel is posted in its entirety so you may read at your leisure (DISABLED CHAPTERS WILL BE ENABLED FOR ANY NEW REVIEWERS GOING BEYOND CHAPTER 3). Old reviews will not always match up with the chapter that it is attached to. This is in essence a memoir of my life in an orphanage, but I use composite characters and am not sure it qualifies as "memoir" for the contest. I will let the judges decide that. I hope this final go through will make it ready to publish, so any comments whatsoever will be appreciated. Especially interested in the new flow pattern. Opinions? Thanks for your help and advice.
