Summary:Celica “Ceci” Coe envisions a bright future after a summer giving tours and delivering mail from the boat that circumnavigates the lake in an affluent small town in the Midwest. A bright future includes graduate school and a wedding to her doctor fiancé. The past threatens her future when her high school best friend, Francesca, reappears. Although the reunion isn’t a happy one. Francesca is being blackmailed for a death she and CeCi caused four years before. Also endangering Ceci’s perfect future is her fascination, and the almost magnetic draw, to a stranger, Jacob Adams. Something about the earthy sensuality of this construction worker is irresistible to Ceci. But if keeping her past secrets hidden is the goal, Jacob may be the only man that she definitely shouldn’t want. When Francesca is gruesomely murdered and CeCi is a suspect, her hunt for the killer may endanger her life and the lives of her loved ones. Is revealing her past crime the only way out?
MAPLE LAKE is a fast-paced, 75,000 word mystery set in a lake town in Midwest Wisconsin. The protagonist, CeCi, is a cautious, nurturing, albeit flawed twenty two year old. The antagonist, Mayor Pike, is charming and well loved by those around him, yet hides a very menacing side. The supporting cast of characters includes Cee Cee’s aunt who cooks all the time, yet can’t seem to make anything edible. And the best friend of Cee Cee who is a mortician in training and thinks he’s a Casanova.
