 | A Broad Abroad in Iran: Staying One Strappy Sandled Foot Ahead of the Mullahs | Dodie Cross | Novel | Memoir | 2 | n/a | Oct 17, 2010 |
Summary:This memoir is the story of the year-and-a-half I spent in Iran. It starts with the preparation to leave my home and family, move to another planet, somewhere between the Old Testament and the Space Age. It follows my month to month traumas at home and in Iran from expat culture shock to outright terror, with some humor brought in to get me through it all. Chapters: |
 | Dreams In my Heart | beth stevens | Novel | Memoir | 3 | n/a | Jun 17, 2010 |
Summary:A look at my journey from a small, poor Mennonite village in Mexico, where children had very minimal education. They were raised to work on their parents' farms and repeat the cycle. Girls were raised only to grow up and be mothers... there were no carreer choices, you married young, and had many children. You would then raise them to do the same.
July 11th, 2010 I've made a few minor changes based on some helpful advice from reviewers. More to come.Chapters: |
 | Memoires of a Mad Woman | pannastra | Novel | Humor | 8 | n/a | Jun 3, 2010 |
Summary:Re-edited. - - -
The source of my ramblings is a collection of letters written to family and friends in the UK after moving to Africa in 1980. - - -
The letters, which I kept copies of, described our new way of life - a way of life quite inconceivable, even unbelievable, to the average British citizen in those days as satellite television did not then exist, and documentaries about distant lands were few a far between. - - -
The fact that these exploits were experienced by an extremely naïve and quite mad English woman puts a different slant on what would normally be a simple biography.

 | Screams in the Flames | Mike2439 | Novel | Memoir | 5 | n/a | Mar 25, 2010 |
Summary:This is a group of stories from my past. They are mostly tragic. I'm not really looking for feedback, just wanted to post them. They were written more for therapy than anything else. Chapters: |
 | Root Hog or Die (Newly revised) | vern | Novel | Memoir | 5 | n/a | May 2, 2008 |
Summary: The first three chapters have been revised and rearranged for the strongest start competition. The novel is posted in its entirety so you may read at your leisure (DISABLED CHAPTERS WILL BE ENABLED FOR ANY NEW REVIEWERS GOING BEYOND CHAPTER 3). Old reviews will not always match up with the chapter that it is attached to. This is in essence a memoir of my life in an orphanage, but I use composite characters and am not sure it qualifies as "memoir" for the contest. I will let the judges decide that. I hope this final go through will make it ready to publish, so any comments whatsoever will be appreciated. Especially interested in the new flow pattern. Opinions? Thanks for your help and advice. | Consensual Infidelity | kaysee | Novel | Memoir | 19 | n/a | Apr 19, 2008 |
Summary:This novel-length memoir details the growth and emotional shifts that occur when a thirtysomething woman decides to turn her husband's sexual fantasy into reality. While there will certainly be some vivid descriptions of sex as the story progresses, it is intended for a mainstream audience. The more detailed the critique, the better. I can take it!Chapters: |
