Summary:Taking a break from Ruby Rose and feeling reflective, so thought I'd give poetry a crack. Not because I'm any good at it, but I wanted to play around with interpretations/double meanings.
I know as a poem this is really awkward - clumsy rhyming, lousy rhythm, annoying experimental pace ... so I'm looking more for suggestions on how to improve, rather than pointing out what I already know is crap.
I'm particularly looking for feedback on the content - I'm trying for the interpreting-alternative-meanings concept without being too obvious or too obscure ... walkin' the line, I guess.Chapters: |

Summary:A pg version of this poem has been made into a video and is posted on Youtube at this link ---- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ceijq_z48Y4 -----
I had to water it down a bit for Youtube. So I renamed it By the Sea
It would be super cool if you took a look at the video and left a comment on Youtube.
Some people like the pg version better and some like this one - a comparison of the two would also be nice to know.
Thanks in advance if you do go to Youtube. I will do several reviews of your writing in return if you subscribe to her channel or comment on the poem on Youtube. It takes quite a bit of work to do a video poem, and it's my friend's channel, so it would be nice to know if our idea on video poems is an idea worth continuing!

Summary:Being by the ocean has always seemed to help me feel calm and centered. I find a communication (and communion) there that is unlike any other place. The poem tells a fictional story of a woman who seeks that same kind of solace. Comments welcomed.Chapters: |

Summary:This is a poem I wrote some time ago when I was given the prompt 'high tide.' I had never written a poem before and haven't since. I'm interested in any opinions and nits. I love poetry, but certainly not expert on writing one. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks!Chapters: |

 | The Yankees - Voyage Around Cape Horn | becket | Novel | Historical Fiction | 3 | n/a | Nov 23, 2010 |
Summary:The Yankees has multiple protagonists and is written in two parts, prior to the voyage and during the voyage. It is set in Victorian New England in 1872. It's a story about a ship's master, an Irish American suffragette, and a sixteen year old boy. While historical fiction, the novel contains adventure, romance and self-discovery.
This is an American story and breaks from the trend of nautical novels about naval officers and the Napoleonic wars. The sailors swear, chew tobacco, drink, and, given the opportunity, fornicate. The women are courageous, intelligent, and real. The story would appeal to John Ford and John Huston and, I hope, to you.

 | Moving Shadows | Kay Lovell | Novel | Historical Fiction | 7 | n/a | Feb 26, 2008 |
Summary:The story is based upon real facts but with the added writers license to indulge. Romance, and intrigue are part of the story. The development of the harbour in a remote Cornish village, the leading figure of this area was a Solicitor and a Banker, the Cornish family of long standing with connections to the throne. He has an affair with a male clerk, although married, not very satisfactory and his wife eventually meets an officer in the Royal Navy, whose frigate regularly berths at Georgetown, they immediately strike up a relationship.
Poverty in a Fishing Village, a hamlet of nine houses and the wonderful backdrop of the cornish scenery provides the setting for this gentle story.
Feedback: constructive critism please, any weaknesses please point out. development suggestions.
Thanks: I would like to thank those of you that have taken the trouble to give an opinion and it has been taken on board. The rest of the book is still under construction, and yes I do use too many words. But the editing is still underway. I have only just realised that I could alter the layout, still learning you see. Ooops!Chapters: |
