Summary:After Part 1 a TNBW reader requested another episode. It would take a year just to even consider it. After this issue, I am closing the pages of this painful series. I just don't know if I can go back there ever again to East Nichols Avenue. Still a second reader mentioned that they experienced a similar pain in childhood. I can only hope that someone is saved. I dedicate this to my brother, Kevin.
Of all the characters mentioned in this story only two are still alive. I apologize in advance for all typos. I just couldn't go back in this story anymore at this time. Please understand.Chapters: |

Summary:This poem is written in mind with the children and the families who had to go through the terrible Newtown School shootings. I want to dedicate this to everyone going through emotional roller-coaster resulting from such tragedies. I would call my attempt a huge success if I can provide a moment of relief to at least one person going through such a tragedy .
Please provide your comments and suggestions to improve this to make it a better experience to the readers.

 | Prom Night | w. e. turner | Novel | Literary Fiction | 4 | n/a | Jan 29, 2012 |
Summary:Here is another long short story that has to be published in two parts.
I was very reluctant to publish this one on this site because it is a bit dated (like I am) and was written in the mid 1990s, so that is the time I date it for. It involves, but does not center on, land-line telephones that are no where near as sofisticated as the cellular and smart phone technology used these days.
The main character of this story is a high school student who prepares for the prom to be held that night, but circumstances make things a little complicated.Chapters: |
 | Dean Search | kaleigh castle-maguire | Short Story | Commercial Fiction | 6 | 2.61 | Jan 1, 2012 |
Summary:This is a short story I've been working on for a competition with a "legal" theme ie law school or law practice. I chose law school and the internal politics surrounding a law dean search. I'm worried that it may be a bit boring for folks who haven't spent any time on a faculty or around professors so I'd really be interested in views on that, and on any other aspects of the story that are problematic for readers. Thanks in advance for any and all help.Chapters: |

Summary:This story won a contest run by Monadnock Writers Group, and was selected as one of seven short stories (plus a bunch of poetry and photographs) to be published in their anthology themed on memory.
The anthology has just been published and is entitled "Shadow and Light: A Literary Anthology on Memory."

Of course, I'm generally not the literary type (sex, drugs, rock and roll is more my speed - ha!), but I wrote this story when I was pretty sad -the lead is modeled after a dear friend whom I'd just lost.
Do you have to be depressed to write literary fiction? (Just KIDDING, sheesh!)
As with my other work, the lead is a no-bullshit kind of woman (just like my friend - a true-blue Yankees fan, btw! -was).
So caveat emptor: It's a little depressing : O : )
*** Note: I thought I posted the final version of this, but reviewers have been pointing out some punctuation malfunctions and typos, so I must have goofed. I've made the corrections.
