Summary:Here is another long short story that has to be published in two parts.
I was very reluctant to publish this one on this site because it is a bit dated (like I am) and was written in the mid 1990s, so that is the time I date it for. It involves, but does not center on, land-line telephones that are no where near as sofisticated as the cellular and smart phone technology used these days.
The main character of this story is a high school student who prepares for the prom to be held that night, but circumstances make thing a little complicated.Chapters: |
 | Dean Search | kaleigh castle-maguire | Short Story | Commercial Fiction | 4 | 2.61 | Jan 1, 2012 |
Summary:This is a short story I've been working on for a competition with a "legal" theme ie law school or law practice. I chose law school and the internal politics surrounding a law dean search. I'm worried that it may be a bit boring for folks who haven't spent any time on a faculty or around professors so I'd really be interested in views on that, and on any other aspects of the story that are problematic for readers. Thanks in advance for any and all help.Chapters: |

Summary:This story won a contest run by Monadnock Writers Group, and was selected as one of seven short stories (plus a bunch of poetry and photographs) to be published in their anthology themed on memory.
The anthology has just been published and is entitled "Shadow and Light: A Literary Anthology on Memory."

Of course, I'm generally not the literary type (sex, drugs, rock and roll is more my speed - ha!), but I wrote this story when I was pretty sad -the lead is modeled after a dear friend whom I'd just lost.
Do you have to be depressed to write literary fiction? (Just KIDDING, sheesh!)
As with my other work, the lead is a no-bullshit kind of woman (just like my friend - a true-blue Yankees fan, btw! -was).
So caveat emptor: It's a little depressing : O : )
*** Note: I thought I posted the final version of this, but reviewers have been pointing out some punctuation malfunctions and typos, so I must have goofed. I've made the corrections.

Summary:A humorous reminiscence of my grade school years.
I wasn't sure whether to place this in the Humor or the Memoir or the Non-fiction or the I don't have the guts to put my real name to this piece category.
I am merely looking for honest reviews. I have no illusions or delusions of authorial grandeur.Chapters: |
