Summary:I posted the first 18 chapters of this book back in 2008. But I am reposting it in its entirety as I have undertaken a significant rewrite of the book.
Cash register, PI, takes the job of finding the missing wife of a very strange, little mystic. The mystic thinks the Spirits of the Great Beyond have take her to punish her. As Cash tackles this unusual case, he has to deal with his mother, who is convinced she is a reincarnation of Annie Oakley; his ditzy receptionist; a too-old-for-her-age eleven year-old daughter; an ex-wife and a budding romance. And don't forget the arrogant clown and the green-haired punk rock musician.
The humor is a bit over-the-top in places, but I intended it that way...just so you know!
Please feel free to comment and/or critique as you choose to. All feedback is helpful. Thanks so much for taking time to read this. AlanChapters: |

Summary:I am reposting this reworked piece and thank you to all who helped with it. I have to admit I am nervous about posting anything but poetry and silly stuff as it calls for better writing technically. Creating is easy for me but rules are not.
Many have urged me to try a novel. Hmmmph! That would me like a five hundred pound woman attacking Mt.Rainer on a hot summer day.

Hope is to get readers who hesitate reviewing poetry to take a leap in faith as there is no wrong way to review if you say how a work 'feels' 'provokes' or if it doesn't. Still good feedback and can help enrich one's own writing.
Poetry is not my favorite genre. I don't even own a book of poetry except for my mothers. Only poetry I read in on this site. I write it as do not feel confident in other genres. I too am learning to try though. To stretch oneself is to grow and stay flexible.

Summary:“Bad sheep daughter, Maya Cooper is pissed. Not only did her husband manage to get himself detained at the request of the state of California for the murder of his business partner, he also managed to leave her and fourteen-year-old daughter, Amberly, destitute. Snubbed by the in-laws and their friends and unable to find employment in LA, Maya decides to pack up her sullen teenager and head back to her hometown and into her parents’ home.
Returning home is the last thing she wants to do. Her mother, Diana Ventimiglia, was the prime reason why she left town. Her older, “good sheep perfect sister, Marta, was reason Number Two. Marta’s self-righteous attitude and the parading of her two perfect progeny, Max and Ben, is more than Maya can bear. Add to the mix the irritating next-door neighbor, Chad, former high school classmate, football star and perennial thorn in her side, and the recipe for disaster has just been rachetted up a notch.

Summary:Charles "Cash" Register is a Private Investigator whose new case is to reclaim the missing wife of a weird little mystic from the "Spirits of the Great Beyond." His mother thinks she is a reincarnation of Annie Oakley. She's very handy with a lasso. His assistant is a gorgeous but ditzy blonde who's built like the best brick outhouse money can buy. She has a lot of skin to cover in places. Somehow she always has a little trouble keeping it adequately covered. When Chuck-A-Roo the Clown; Cedrick the Sissy; and old, senile Mrs. Snodgrass and her dog get involved, it becomes a calamity.
The humor is a little silly and over-the-top in places.
BEWARE: There is a lot of sexual inuendo, adult situations and adult language. And yes, our P.I. is a bit chauvanistic at times.
Any comments you would care to make are welcomed. Anything from a general "I like it" or "I don't like it" to a lengthy technical critique would be fine.
I am writing this as I go. I have completed but four chapters at this point. I was rather reluctant to do it this way. But, what the heck. It will force me to work hard on it. Problem is...I don't have a clue where the story is going yet! Should be interesting!
Thanks in advance.Chapters: |
