 | WHO KILLED TOM JONES? | gem | Novel | Mystery and Crime | 3 | n/a | Nov 9, 2008 |
Summary:This is my NaNo novel, a cozy mystery I started this summer with a paper-thin idea that one of the impersonators at a Tom Jones festival is murdered. I gave it to an editorial consultant who's helped me with other pieces and she said I should start the story at the festival rather than at the rest home. Anyway, if you read the first chapter, does this new one work better? Thanks for letting me know if it has potential and what could be better.Chapters: |
 | RACE CARD | gem | Novel | Mystery and Crime | 6 | n/a | Apr 22, 2008 |
Summary:A small-town college community is turned upside down when an anthropologist on the national lecture circuit comes to town to dispel racial myths.
PLEASE NOTE, especially previous reviewers: Based on some recent workshop feedback, I decided to change the book's POV from first to limited third since Min is a more private person and her reluctance to talk about herself tended to estrange her from the reader. Would you let me know if it works better in third? Also the opening pages have been heavily edited since last posting. Since it's nearly a new chapter, I'm posting it and in fact the rest of the chapters as new ones rather than reposts. Thanks to all my earlier reviewers since I expect they'll disappear posting this as new content. I printed them out and filed them in a notebook.
Chapters 85-96 are the chapters written in first-person POV. No need to read those unless you are interesting in comparing the effectiveness of the new choice.Chapters: |
