Summary:Jake Sinclair takes his little brother trick-or-treating and finally discovers love. This is my entry in the Halloween Haunted House competition, as well as my first attempt at horror. After all the helpful corrections and suggestions from reviewers, I've done some more work on it. Thanks to all of you. An interesting Halloween story goes along with the posting of this the first time. At 3 a.m. last Monday morning I posted this and about a second later there was a large explosion outside my window and all the lights went out. Summary:Revised 10-20. Thanks to the great input from everyone - thats why I love this site. edits: changed the first para; used it to blend out overuse of the dark one.
O.K. - I felt like a wuss writing a sweet witchy story about Black Roses - did'nt feel right for Halloween - So I reached down and something crawled up my arm - here it is.
IMPORTANT: Pay attention to which character is speaking - they tend to blend together and I've tried to keep them seperate but after all it is about posssession and their awareness does mix.
The dark one; the predator; it - is the malevolant force.
He - anytime it is used - refers to the protagonist - a spirit used as a tool. With only minimal awareness until inside a human mind.
She - the victim. - somebody's got to be the victim.
Let me know if this works - I want to know if I succeeded in portraying them distinctly enough.
Now I gotta go wash... and go to church... maybe that'll be enough.Chapters: |

The relationship between these two witches actually captured me. Let me know if I've portrayed them well and how you would improve the characterisation.
Edited 10-28: Changed the starting point to find the 'hook' (did this draw you in?) Cut out a lot of the slow setup and tried to work it in with the action. Changed the ending a little. 10-31 took out some of the gratuitous affectations after the dialogue - annoying little buggers.Chapters: |
