this in lieu of the one I pulled as humor doesn't feel right from me today. This is one I wrote for my grandchildren so not something deep but feel it worthwhile to get feedback on as why settle for 'ordinary' when it can be much better with feedback etc. Cute is fine but also want a message?

This is a little tongue in cheek "ode" for my prize pupil on here. :) It's just to show an ode doesn't have to meet the standard of Keats or Bryon, just follow three simple rules. 1. Be a tribute; 2. Be at least 3 stanzas; 3. 1st stanza sets the style for the others to follow. Just grin along with me with a nice cup of coffee in your hand.

The scene is Grandpa and grown-up grandchild sitting on Grandpa's porch. They're playing a sing-song rhyming game they've played for more than twenty-five years. Then Grandma comes out and breaks it up. I would really like feedback on the ending. I had a devil of a time trying to bring this to a close. Once you read it, you'll know why. Supposed to be for the Drabble Challenge. However, after reading the rules, I don't think it qualifies. Thought I'd post it anyway. And the counter is a little frustrating. Titles don't count. I posted 103 words. I've counted 100 and the counter says 94. I'm throwing my hands up.
