 | Phyllis and the Phallus | Doug Moore | Short Story | Humor | 11 | 1.25 | Oct 18, 2012 |
Summary:This is a story that started out one way and then took me in a whole other direction. Apparently I can only take life seriously in short bursts. Poor Phyllis thinks she wants to jump off the Empire State Building but what she really wants is a foot long hot dog. The symbolism is crude. But what can you expect from the most famous phallus in the world? Any and all comments are welcome, but mostly what I want to know is did you enjoy the damn story? Chapters: |
 | Make Me an Angel, Empire_State_Building | w. e. turner | Short Story | Literary Fiction | 10 | 2.97 | Oct 16, 2012 |
Summary:This might be construed as cheating (slightly) but I edited this story a bit to include a mention of the Empire State Building and entered it into the contest. But it is essentially the same story as previously published.
It was, when first published here, a new story: one that was never workshopped in any college master's workshops or anywhere else. In fact, it was the first story I wrote after I started writing again following my retirement/disability, even though the basic premise, writing from the POV of the opposite sex, was an exercise suggested by a writing workshop. Given my glandular bias, I'm not really sure if it's in any way believable and will appreciate any and all feedback. Chapters: |
 | The Great Ape | Doug Moore | Short Story | Literary Fiction | 16 | 1.04 | Sep 28, 2012 |
Summary:This is the King Kong story told through the eyes of the great ape. Nobody ever asked him what he thought of the whole mess. Not surprisingly, he's not real happy about it. Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks.Chapters: |
