This short piece was for a flash fiction competition and I really don't know what, if anything, to do with it now. There was a hard word limit of I think 800 or 850, but if I work on it some more I can extend it. It is a short short though so I probably wouldn't want to make it longer than around 1,500. This is a fairytale like none other you have ever read. It is intended to expose, invert and reverse the myriad of intolerant, oppressive, degrading ideologies attached to historical fairytale narratives such as the 'Grimm's Fairy Tales' collection and their Disney reenactments. It is part satire and part intense drama. I would very much like to hear what people think of it.

A short story I wrote for a little girl who loved fairy tales. If you've read chapters 1 and 2 of my Novel, "Midnight Man," this story will probably sound familiar. AMERICAN WOLF is a modern tale about the strange and troubled life of Jake Stanford, an unmotivated, cynical young man trying to make a life for himself in Chicago, while struggling to control his drinking and the tendency to occasionally change into a monster and eat people. Living hand to mouth and self medicating have gotten him by in the past, but recent events in his life have taken several turns for the worse and everything seems to be coming apart at the seams. Jake's meds that have allowed him to enjoy a modicum of control over his condition are starting to lose their efficacy, he's been accused of a murder he's not sure he didn't commit, and something is trying to kill him. Can Jake control himself and his other side in time to clear his name, or will he succumb to his own destructive nature and that of the shadowy assassin dogging his every move? A dark secret from his past may hold the key.

Okay I am back once again on an expiramental basis. This is a comedy but a rather dark one. If you could think of everything that is right and good about the Emergency Medical Services then throw that out the window, you are coming close to what my novel is about. For those that remember Beavis and Buthead, they were everything you did not want your teen to be all rolled up into two characters. Warning: this is a little on the messed up side. This is another poem that one of my "characters" wrote. He is deeply traumatized, 22 years old and has pychotic breaks/flashbacks. I don't want to give too much away because this is from book 3. The character has constant suicidal thoughts, but is unable to act on them. I'm really trying to work on refining the poetry style, becasue I've never written poems before.

His family was murdered, and he was beaten nearly to death. Before the tragedym he was a quiet gentle hearted artist, who wrote and sang songs for children in his spare time. Now he's unstable and a ittle psychotic.------------------- Feel free to rewrite the poem if you'd like, as long as all his thoughts stay in it.
