Summary:This novel is set in a remote indigenous mining town in Cape York Australia. The book is a coming of age story about a young women, Sam Tucker, and her friends based on actual events. For Sam's 18th birthday, rather than another backyard party gatecrashed by others, she convinces her closest friends to going camping on the bank of a wild river and the events that unfold change their lives forever.
I wanted it to be based around characters that secondary students (13 - 18) could relate to and with action and adventure that would be interesting and leave them wanting to know more.
I've never written anything before. My recent addiction to blogging sparked an interest in writing and a sense of purpose(http:/cassielobley@blogspot.com)
I found this site to be be a fantastic avenue to learn and mature my literary skills.
All feedback - absolutely everything - would be greatly appreciated. Don't hold back.Chapters: |

 | A woman Samurai's love song--edited February 10, 2008 | Dur Shacho | Poetry | Poetry | 2 | 0.65 | Apr 4, 2010 |
Summary:This work is from the novel, Corporate Samurai "love begets hate, trust begets betrayal, lust leads to death". It attempts to convey the emotions and thoughts, in song form, of a woman Samurai to the one true love of her life--who is also a Samurai.
This song is written at a time when she suspects their relationship will not be sustainable, as her lover comes from a much inferior heritage than her own--something her family will not accept. Chapters: |

It takes place long ago and revolves around Kate Powers, a nineteen year old who reluctantly accepts an enchanted package filled with 'tools' to start her on the journey of a lifetime. Her pursuit opens the door to magic, mystery, and a family history she could never have imagined. I am looking forward to and will appreciate any and all feedback.Chapters: |

Summary:This was written over forty years ago.. stuffed inside a drawer. Few got a glimpse of it but I wasn't encouraged.
Right before I joined this site and the reason I joined is due to a kind review from the author Thom Hartmann of Air America..
You never know where you might receive encouragement from and it might lead to no more 'hiding' of your work. Good or bad.. at least you have found the courage to write and gingerly push it out there for readership.
I want this perfected. My hope is that is serves as an encouragement to new writers to pull that work out of hiding. You are your words in a way.
It is also a lesson in perfecting what you have started before going on to something else. When I see "Perfection" typed in a review of this. I will know growth has taken place.

Summary:This is a completely reworked piece about writing and the strength it takes to post that first piece. This is not perfect but improved over what it was. My journey on this site has seen growth. There is so much more to come.
I didn't really know how to categorize this.
For all the faint of heart who have never posted work on any site until you came to THE NEXT BIG WRITER... and perhaps are still holding back... this is for you.
You can also practice reviewing and pointing out mistakes knowing this writer won't bite! Ha..
I was really embarrass how bad it was. Cringed!!! Hope it has improved.
