Summary:Hi,
This is the second children's story I have posted. All of the stories are based on memory - I think they are mostly true, but nearly fifty years is a heck of a long time! I have changed the PoV to third person following previous feedback. In fact I have done a complete re-write. I hope this works but am open to and welcome any feedback - hgChapters: |

 | Mennonites Singing | jpb2ndchance | Poetry | Poetry | 5 | 0.35 | Dec 23, 2009 |
Summary:Heard some beautiful a capella singing in the busy local mall tonight and listened for a little while. The Mennonite way of life, lived in the midst of a secular world, must be a challenge. Though not as immersed in their own culture as the Amish, they adhere to a pretty plain and humble path. Their singing perfectly exemplified their religious beliefs.Chapters: |

 | The Christmas Call | Sherman Law | Short Story | Memoir | 7 | 0.48 | Dec 25, 2008 |
Summary:I'm trying to capture my conversation with my 9 year old Goddaughter Ali from this morning. Partly for the Christmas memory, and partly to record how Ali talks at the age of 9. To do this justice you have to read Ali's part very fast, because that is how she talks when she is excited. She slowed way down when she got sentimental towards the end.Chapters: |
 | Gingerbread Houses | Sherman Law | Short Story | Memoir | 5 | 0.28 | Dec 19, 2008 |
Summary:Two years ago my Goddaughters (I was raising at the time) and I built gingerbread houses. It is a fun Christmas memory.Chapters: |
 | REFLECTIONS FROM AN OUTDOOR DUNNY | Cadfael | Short Story | Humor | 7 | 0.75 | Dec 15, 2008 |
Summary:An account of a Christmas made particularly memorable by a pet rat named Hamlet.
Perhaps I shouldn't have posted this story again, but what the heck? It's Christmas and this is fun - and the link to it's appearance in It's A Rats World mag doesn't work :(
I have left an original word in this one, but changed it to "kiss" in the published version in case children were reading it! (observant readers will know which word it is LOL) If you decide to read it to a minor, you might change it as well :)
Chapters: |
 | A Marine Corp, High desert Christmas | Sherman Law | Short Story | Memoir | 7 | 0.35 | Dec 12, 2008 |
Summary:This happened to me back in December of 1971. It is an event I think of this time of year. Chapters: |
 | Handy Tips for Efficient Christmas Shopping | kat nove | Short Story | Humor | 4 | 0.37 | Dec 8, 2008 |
Summary:I've revised this story in the hopes of getting the word out. Jill, may every pair of shoes you sell during this holiday season cause blisters, pinched toes and sterility in all your customers. Nothing is more fun than working retail during the holidays. I'm sure this will offend everyone. That being said - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All! Chapters: |
 | Shingle Bumps | kat nove | Poetry | Humor | 9 | 0.35 | Nov 26, 2008 |
Summary:During the summer my associate Kelly missed three weeks in the book department due to a serious case of shingles, which can hurt more worse than kidney stones. Holiday retail hell is upon us, and if Kelly thinks she can bail once again by contracting a painful and debilitating disease, she has no real understanding of the level of my mental instability. The last line of this poem is dedicated to the customer I waited on today who seemed to think I’m less intelligent than a half-eaten bowl of mushy fruit. This can and should be sung to the tune of 'Jingle Bells' and while you're singing, try to look one step away from being committed to an asylum for the criminally insane.Chapters: |
 | The Gifts of Men | Jayce Cole | Poetry | Humor | 5 | 0.42 | Dec 28, 2007 |
Summary:For some unknown reason, women feel they must drop hints as to the gifts they would like to receive from men. The poem is a silly take on how this ritual does NOT work!Chapters: |
 | THE MOST MISERABLE CHRISTMAS IN THE WORLD part one of two | rlvs | Short Story | Fantasy | 3 | 0.36 | Jun 28, 2007 |
Summary:Dr. Misery plots an end to Christmas and Santa Claus.Chapters: |
