Summary: When I was 13 years old, my mother and two sisters were killed in a plane crash. Their Air Canada flight from Montreal to California had a stopover in Toronto and it went down just outside Toronto killing all 109 passengers and crew members.
It also killed my father’s spirit. My father simply continued to exist, overcome by despair, in a state devoid of hope. His spirit was gone but his clock continued to tick. Burying a wife and two young children at the age of 44 devastated him and left him with an intense sorrow from which he never recovered. In addition, the overwhelming responsibility of raising a daughter alone completely immobilized him.
In that plane crash, I lost my mother and two younger sisters. At 13 years of age, I was faced with the responsibility of a father in a complete state of shock, a house to take care of and what felt like hundreds of well-meaning relatives and friends telling us exactly what to do and how to proceed with our shattered lives.
But I chose life. We always have choices.

Summary:In my quest to find spiritual peace through the Lord these days, he helped out by bringing an old friend back into my life. By doing so, he put me in a position to close a lengthy chapter in the book of E Charles Smith.
God is good all the time. He knows exactly what we need, and often forces us to help ourselves with his guidance.
Although the names have been changed (to protect the innocent), the memoir is honest. As I wrote this, I felt a sense of real freedom come over me. It was as if the words appearing on the screen were therapeutically clearing my soul. Chapters: |
