I am on story #2 of 10 stories that I will rewrite and write scripts for. This script is the first one I've written in years and I forgot oddles of stuff, but it will slowly come back to me. The script writing of this story taught me a lot of new tricks about pov and tense. Software is called Celtx. For $10 it was a great deal. I will return to script for revision as I lean software. THANKS - måx

Summary:Asked to hold a stranger's baby for a few minutes, Danni is faced with a decision when the infant's mother fails to return.
I'm looking for any feedback. I've had differing opinions on starting the story as I do here, or starting with Danni's life, a little background and having this all happen around chapter 3. What do you think? Start in the middle of the crisis, or build up to it?

 | MATCHLESS | RebeccaRose | Novel | Historical Fiction | 3 | n/a | Apr 28, 2011 |
Summary:I welcome all critiques. This is my umpteenth rewrite, and I want it to be the next to last, with your help. Thanks for your time.
MATCHLESS, set in Colorado 1880, is based on the real life of old prospector, Horace Tabor, who makes the biggest silver strike in history and becomes wildly rich. He buys hundreds of mines and businesses and catapults his career from mayor to governor to US senator. But, Tabor divorces his pioneer wife, and marries Baby Doe, a dazzling Irish beauty half his age, in Washington with the president in attendance. The uproarious scandal ruins his reputation and career. Even though society shuns the Tabors, they build Denver a monumental Tabor Grand Opera House and bring Broadway theater to the West, entertaining Oscar Wilde, Sarah Bernhardt, Lily Langtry, and Buffalo Bill. But in 1893, they face the Silver Crash, and the Tabor’s empire crumbles. The Tabor’s are penniless. They have one hope left; the Matchless Mine. Chapters: |

 | Precious One | roseywriter123 | Poetry | Poetry | 4 | 0.67 | Oct 16, 2010 |
Summary:This poem was inspired by a recent tragedy that happened to a friend of my daughter's. She and her son were on their way to the hospital to find out the sex of her unborn child when they were involved in a terrible car accident. She and her son lived, but she lost the baby, a little girl she had prayed for. Little Nadia Claire died in utero from the impact of the air bag. Chapters: |
 | My Son & My Sleep | MamaWelch | Short Story | Editorial and Opinion | 6 | 1.53 | Oct 1, 2010 |
Summary:An essay written in response to the barrage of advice (and unspoken judgement) as it relates to how I choose to handle my son's sleeping arrangements. I would like to see opinions on how this piece reads, if it speaks to anyone that relates to it, or other opinions offered.Chapters: |
 | The Doo Run Run Affair | Kydd Dustyn | Novel | Mystery and Crime | 4 | n/a | Dec 11, 2009 |
Summary:Number 2 in the Eagle Plume Detective series (the first is Homo Necans). To help you decide if you want to read this: this is a police crime story, not a mystery and I write in multiple POVs, though I do try to make it obvious when I switch characters. It does involve a shapeshifter quasi-psychic detective, so there's an element of the paranormal. The main focus, however, is solving the crime. Hope you choose to read on! Chapters: |

 | Angel Eyes | R.S. Guthrie | Poetry | Memoir | 5 | 0.36 | Aug 7, 2009 |
Summary:We are doing a walk next weekend in honor of our son, Brody, who died of SIDS, to raise money for Angel Eyes, formerly Colorado SIDS. I was asked to write a couple of paragraphs for a brouchure...I am no poet; I have absolutely no idea about meter, construct, where to place what. But this seemed to me to be suited to a poem of some kind, so I tried to break it down as such.
Any and all comments are welcome. You won't hurt my feelings by telling me what it needs from a poetry perspective--in fact, such suggestions are what I am looking for.Chapters: |
 | Crimson Velvet4 - Massive Rewrite | Midnight_Dreary | Poetry | Poetry | 4 | 0.87 | May 15, 2009 |
Summary:I wrote with a killer headache one night and decided to post, obviously prematurely. This piece is based upon an actual event. Poetic license has been used and the names have been changed to protect the guilty. This also serves to protect this humble writer. Caution: this is a graphic portrayal, although not nearly as graphic as the pictures of a snuffed innocent child that the jury was forced to endure. As always, any and all reviews, no matter how critical, are welcome. Chapters: |
 | To Lay The Soul Bare Rewritten ... republished | flowing pencil | Short Story | Editorial and Opinion | 14 | 0.23 | Mar 9, 2009 |
Summary:This is a completely reworked piece about writing and the strength it takes to post that first piece. This is not perfect but improved over what it was. My journey on this site has seen growth. There is so much more to come.
I didn't really know how to categorize this.
For all the faint of heart who have never posted work on any site until you came to THE NEXT BIG WRITER... and perhaps are still holding back... this is for you.
You can also practice reviewing and pointing out mistakes knowing this writer won't bite! Ha..
I was really embarrass how bad it was. Cringed!!! Hope it has improved.

Summary:My second grandson was born Saturday morning. Nicole and Den are doing fine, but Wiley, who's been the center of attention for over two years, seems to be depressed. I only had the one child, so I have to go back to my own childhood for any frame of reference. My older sister tossed me out a window.
