| Bio: | You know that moment when people ask you what you do for a living? And there’s a long pause. What do I say? In your mind things are racing. The first response you think of is, “I’m a writer,� but then there’s that long pause. A pause of doubt and decision. Then all the memories of when you’ve told people you’re a writer come to mind. “Oh, my God, you’re not even published?� “I hope when you’re done with this writing thing you’ll consider a real job.� “Oh. I didn’t know that was a profession.� I’ve heard all these things and much more in my 12 years of writing. That’s why I choose not to use my real name or photo. Over the years I’ve learned to be ashamed of what I do. Even though I do have a “regular� job to pay bills, I’m a writer, because I love doing it and I would not want to live if I couldn’t. Like almost everyone here on this website, I wrote a novel. I spent ten years on it. But I became so secretive about it over time that putting it out there for people to see was damn near impossible. So I’m putting out short stories and tidbits. I’m hoping this website can help me find my guts, and maybe some pride for what I do. Kudos to all of you who are brave enough to post your work here. And to those who spend the time to read my review my work and rate it, you have my deepest gratitude. |
