| Bio: | Janet Taylor-Perry, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, makes her home in Ridgeland. She is a graduate the University of Southern Mississippi with a B. S. in psychology, Belhaven University, with a Master of Arts in Teaching, and gifted certification from Mississippi College. She holds a class AA teaching certification in English, social studies, and gifted education, and she has taught fifth through twelfth grades in a number of districts in the state. Ms. Taylor-Perry has been writing most of her life, and was a member of Quill and Scroll and an award winning high school journalist. Her poem, “Fantasy” appeared in Letters from the Soul in 2002, and her short story “’Internot’ Dating” appeared in Brick Street Press: 2010 Winner’s Circle, published through The Arts Council of Clinton. Several poems and anecdotal stories have been in print in The Magnolia Quarterly, a publication of Gulf Coast Writers' Association. Janet had a strong finish at the 2012 Faulkner Wisdom Competition with her poem, "Ode to a Dragon," and her novel, Lucky Thirteen, as semi-finalists, her essay, "Seven Years Out," being a short-list finalist, and her novel in progress, Head Count, placing as a finalist. She finds her true spirit when she writes and thrives on the thrill of creating worlds and characters. Much of her inspiration has come through life experiences; she is an aspiring novelist with several novels in various stages of completion and a member of the Red Dog Writers and the Gulf Coast Writers Association.
