| Bio: | Always loved books, often don't much like people. Same with writing vs. speaking. Singing is another matter. That relates to music which I love as an unfailing source of uplifting energy. I guess poetry relates most closely to music but writing it is hard, especially if you are not high on some music or other stimulant. I get the biggest kick out of writing quick, stinging letters in response to some idiot's letter to a newspaper editor. Besides that; running, fast or slow, has always been vital to me. It too is best done alone. But the fellow runners I meet are usually more pleasant than fellow writers. Also, I have advanced age as an excuse for my poor running performance. Age has improved another thing that I value. Judging by the looks I get, beauty began at 50. Girls from 13 to 83 are flirting with me. But if they do, I don't follow through because my heart belongs to wifey. But really, I'm much too timid which relates to why I love writing. We are a vain but timid bunch in person. Back to the wife to end this profile. She's the one I most value: as my rock for the past 40 years to steady my emotional swings; a go-getter for my timidity; a can-doer for my laziness and incompetence; a genteel face on my boorish incivility; the positive to my negative. Thank God she is a good and constant cook! I'm not friends with any acknowledged writers, my peer (in age only!) snubbed me when I met him in Africa. Would like to meet other novices like myself. |
