Ellie - June Reading?
Hey Ellie,
Do you have a June reading for us yet? I'm so excited! Please, please tell me it's an excuse to run out and buy another book! (And please tell me it's one that my local B&N will have, because Amazon boxes coming to the house recently have gotten me in hot water. I am learning to live within the financial cycle of an academic family... summer months are lean.)
Peace!
Sarah
P.S. And is anyone ready to volunteer for July?
Okay, this is now turning into an issue, so let me put it in my sig file so everyone knows upfront: I don't read or review fiction that includes sexual violence. ] I just don't. I will fight my way through sexual violence in your memoir, but not in your fiction. I apologize in advance for anyone who is inconvenienced by this.

What essays have been chosen so far? July and August are primo months (time-wise) for me.

You don't have a library in West Virginia? Or Texas?
Sorry, I can't resist: That explains a lot ![]()

New England,
Look down the list a little, and you'll find the thread for May's essay, JoAnn Beard's very lovely "The Fourth State of Matter." I let the discussion fizzle under the weight of some personal stuff, but I am SURE Ellie will do a better job!
Mish,
I'm gonna open up a can of West Virginia ass-whoop on you if you keep this up.
Yes, we have a library. But it's right beside Friendship Room, so I don't go there any more. One of the best things about going to grad school: in the fall, I'll have access to the university library! I can't wait!

Sorry, I always get such a chuckle. Anyone East of Cal, OR and Wash talks really funny.
I know you have a library. Library of Congress, right?

I have not forgotten. It just isn't June yet. Where I am I have another half hour, but I will be asleep by then. I'll be posting my plans for us in the a.m.

I do NOT talk funny. My parents spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on elocution lessons so that I would NOT speak in the vernacular. Now, THAT is funny, don't ya'll think? Hey, can someone carry me down to the store so I can get me a poke of groceries?

Yes, they have libraries here in Texas, but they expect you to return the books!
Now I ask you, is that reasonable?
Sarah, it wasn't you who let the conversation fizzle, it was us and for my part I apologize.
I was without a computer for much of that time and working two full time jobs. I took a new position and it overlapped with the commitment I had made to the old position and I owed it to my now former boss to keep my word, so, during finals, which are much harder when it's your masters you're working towards, turns out, and the two jobs and no friggin' internet, I just threw up my hands and said I'll catch 'em next time.
It wasn't you or your article, which I did read and enjoyed.
I promise, I'll do better.
