nasty afflictums
Thirteen letters in an alphabet prescribed, described and scribed by zealous missionary types, as they watched a romantic, but dying race succumb to small pox, measles and other nasty afflictums.
My made up word, afflctums, does it work?

Works for me, I like made-up words, epecially when they are self explanatory. Take care. Vern

Re: nasty afflictums
Like it a lot. It's the kind of word I can imagine a slightly befuddled old university professor saying, believing it was Latin or something.
.... and I'm not implying anything, by the way! *picks up up shovel to dig self out of hole*

Re: nasty afflictums

Re: nasty afflictums
I feel like a cunt, but... I don't get it. Why can't you just say "afflictions"? Not that I'm against making up words or anything. I just don't get this one. Maybe if I saw it in context? ![]()

Re: nasty afflictums
WTH JEliz!? The author of "kangaroo'd"!!! lol why ya gotta be a afflictums h8r? (but I agree. If I read 'afflictums' I'd lump it in the same category as those who say "could care less"... as in..you're saying it wrong, buddy...lol.)
However, if that's the "thing" this character/narrator does, then it'll likely explain itself, like the asian kid in Goonies always saying shit wrong. Endearing.

I know lol I felt like such a hypocrite.
I'm really picky with stuff, though. That's why I wanna see it in context before I make my final judgment. ![]()

Re: nasty afflictums
Well, okay, but smallpox and measles wouldn't fit that, they're not idiopathic or unquantifiable. They've got definite causes, and you can test for them.
