Unbar's new Topic
Hello all I am back. I have been dealing with starting a new business the last 18 months so my writing has taken a back seat. Well now things are getting more normal around here so I am back to finally finish my work and have decided to publish it straight to Amazon. For those who don't remember my work is about Tommy Travers, the boy who is sucked into the World of Books and thrust into the role of lead character. I am looking to review and post the rest of my re-writes with anyone still out there. I would also like to rebuild our group here and start getting more organized again. I still have moderator rights in here so I can help anybody with any forums issues as well. I would love to hear from everybody and how things are going their WIP's since I have been gone. I'd also like to know who is interested in reviewing chapter for chapter with me as I push to finish my final re-write and publish.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
I have a friend who lost her job last year and decided to write in her off time while she looked for work. She has written 7 paranormal novellas and published straight to Amazon. She sold her book at $2.99 per and in one year has sold 300,000 books. I've read her stuff and it is decent, not terrific. Great and motivating story though.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
Unbar...welcome back. My contact here has been sketchy the past year also, but it's good to
make old connections again. As I recall I was reading and reviewing Into the World of Books
but got sidetracked. Currently I'm working on a short story (sci-fi) but plan to continue the
"Tales of the Bard" saga with Cable Hornman. I've let the "Secret of the Druids" set idle for
a long time. Lost my muse so to speak.
Really glad you're back...![]()

Re: Unbar's new Topic
Nice to see everyone again. Missed you guys. I am really excited to get my work up for kindle. I have a friend who has started writing full time. In the last 16 months she was written 7 books and published through Amazon. She has sold 300,000 copies since then. I've read her stuff, good but not amazing. I've read much better here. We are meeting to discuss how she marketed. Will let everyone here know when I meet with her.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
Hi, Unbar!
300k on Amazon? PLEASE post in multiples when you find out how your friend managed that one! I have a bud who's marketing his mob memoir "The Boss ALWAYS Sits in the Back". Book's already been optioned, both Amazon and B & N have approached him to sell his book - and he hasn't come anywhere near that number.
Also - is she doing ebooks only or e + hard copy? I've heard it's rather too easy to actually lose money on every sale with Amazon's hard copies.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
ebooks only for kindle. Will know more details when we meet. Problem is, work just got real busy for me and I'm taking my twins out to college next month so not sure how much time I'll have to meet up with her.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
Had the meeting with the author I mentioned above. Her name is Terri Reid. This is her amazon page
http://www.amazon.com/Loose-Ends-OReill … paranormal
She has seven books out, she releases one every 3-4 months. This is key. When you initially release your book it is in the top of the KDB database and Amazon helps push it. Over time it gets lost in the rest but when you publish the next in your series it raises up the new book and your previous as well. He strategy was to put her first out as a loss leader. She put it at 99 cents which draws people into the series. The rest of her series is at 2.99 each. She makes 35 cents on the first novel and 2 dollars on the rest. She is now well over 300,000 copies sold. All this in the last 16 months. She also uses www.smashwords.com to help with formatting before uploading to Amazon. Over Christmas she gave away her first book for 5 days and said she had 50,000 uploads. Many bought the rest of her books after that so it was worth it. She was very helpful and offered further sit downs again if I would like. She is releasing her next book this week though so she was quite busy. Hope that helps a few folks here. I know it helped me.

Interesting! (Another newbie to the site here).
I've purchased the first of her ebooks. I'm curious to see how it is! I only wish I could be so prolific, but being the only breadwinner tends to eat up most of my time.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
Huh? oh, Unbar, you woke me up!
hehe
I finished In the Winds of Danger and am basking in the accomplishment. I'm also tweaking as it gets reviewed. My next project is to finish Under the Almond Trees, which is historical fiction and doesn't have a big audience on this site. ![]()
But I thought I'd stop in and say hi. Don't want you to think you're all alone. ![]()

I finally finished my novel on Sunday. All final edits and formatting are done and it is now published on Amazon for Kindle and will be going up on Barnes and Noble for Nook. i could really use some reviews on Amazon for those who have read it. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Quickened-Master- … j.+fluegel I have changed the title to Quickened. Let me know if you have any problems with that link. I'm hoping it takes off somehow.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
I will be happy to put in a review, Unbar. And purchase the kindle copy. Purchase today, review in a couple of days. Can't review on Goodreads without the paperback, though, but I'll WIP up the amazon site on my FB page and twitter. Congratulations!
Did you do tags? If not, put some up so I can agree and tag. It also helps sales.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
I did do tags. I tagged it as young adult, fantasy, quest, friendship, adult, magic and adventure. I am doing a drive to 25 on my reviews. I have Facebook friends who have read the book who are going to leave a review for me. I am also hlping I can get some help here from anyone who has read even a part of it. Reviews are the driver of Ebook sales on Amazon. please leave a review for me if you can take a few moments to do so. I left one for you way back Susan, if there is anyone else who needs an Amazon review please let me know. This is the link to my book on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Quickened-Master- … =quickened

Re: Unbar's new Topic
Okay, just bought it. Tagged it with your same tags and will review it tomorrow or Thursday. I put it on my Facebook page and tweeted my purchase. Good luck, Unbar. It's such a good book.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
Good deal Unbar. I stopped by and did a review for you Robert. Hope you like it as
much as I liked your story while reviewing it.

PS Should I add you to my short list of contacts for the next time I do a compendium
of short stories? If you don't remember, click on "A Visitor to Sandahl" link to see what
we did last time. I'm thinking of doing another short story collection.

Susan, just saw your review on Amazon. Thanks for the great words. The reviews are starting to add up so hopefully the numbers start to move a little. I had a friend who reviewed the book but the review was removed. Not sure why.

Re: Unbar's new Topic
They take them out for many reasons - not long enough - one cuss word will do it - gosh, so many things, but usually they warn you to fix it. Did you ask your friend if he got an email?
The cover looks good in my kindle queue. Good luck, Unbar. Are you working on the sequel?
