Odessa: Book One
Hi.
I'm a new writer to TNBW website and so far I'm very impressed with the supportive and knowledgeable community here...and of course, the writing!
I'm hoping to get a bit more feedback on my novel, Odessa. So far I've posted a prologue and the first two chapters and I hope to post a few more after some edits and doing more reviews and building up some more credits. I've rewritten and edited my story so many times that I just lose perspective and really need some fresh eyes, particularly writers with an eye for horror, but of course, I'd appreciate anyone willing to take a look.
I realize there is an ever-growing list of new and reposted writing, all needing reviews, so understand if I have to wait (anythings better than the four month queue at Critters).
Thanks to everyone here.

Hey Crow,
The best way to get some reviews going is to leave some for your colleagues. This is, by and large, a reciprocal environment. Although not everyone you review will grace you in kind, that's generally how you get your ball rolling around here.
It takes a little time, but it's worth the effort.
Best of luck to you.
Madison
P.S. Love your user name.

Re: Odessa: Book One
Thanks for the tip Madison. I have, in fact, reviewed about a dozen stories so far and recieved 3 reviews back. Not looking to get something for nothing. Just thought this "Beta" thread was set up to find folks who might want to read and review new work.

My understanding of a beta reader (and I could be wrong about this) is someone who reads a completed manuscript, after the author thinks it's finished, to give an astute reader's perspective before the author sends it off to an agent or editor.
I saw that you had posted a few chapters of your work. I'll try to take a look at your prologue soon. ![]()

The prison girls are not impressed
They’re the ones who have to clean this mess
They’ve traded more for cigarettes
Than I’ve managed to express...

Re: Odessa: Book One
Tristania,
ok. My bad. I'd seen 'Beta' used in writing circles, but was misinformed about what it actually meant. The chapters I posted have been through a few critiques outside of TNBW and I'm hoping my novel isn't too far off from being sent to a publisher, though a fresh set of eyes might think otherwise. Guess that is the kind of feedback I'm looking for. And yes, I would really appreciate you taking a look and giving me your feedback.
Thanks,
Mark
