Re: new site to help get published!

Hi again wintergirlgz

Okay, I took a quick look.  So far, this is what I don't like

"All books must raise at least $500.00 to be funded."  (I notice there is a fairly short time allowed ...not realistic for my purposes.

So for example, if I sell  my novella for $5.00 (which is what it costs to have it printed and delivered to me) I will have to sell 100 books.  Fat chance!  If I sell my books for $10.00 (which is a very fair price, I would need to sell 50 books) That's fairly easy but I sell direct. The royalties thing doesn't work very well for me.

One more note:  I sell my books via "market" sales at events. The cash goes directly into my pocket.

It will be interesting to hear from  folks who have gone the Pubslush route.

Irene

IN closing, I could be way off track here (not sure) but it looks like you'd have to meet your goal (say $500 within your time frame) in order to get any money from all sales under the goal.  Hmmm

What I got from looking at the site is that you have the opportunity to raise funds for your book. You are not necessarily selling your actual book, but building an audience. I also liked that authors get to choose their own goals and the gifts they give to supporters.

You could totally sell 100 books, Irene! If someone logs onto the site and likes your topic, they can support you instantly.

I am so interested in how this works out for you..please keep me informed (email) on your progress.
We must all follow what our heart says 'looking good?'

I am involved this weekend in a big promotion for my second book..pretty exciting. but for me what is even more exciting is to get to know so many folks (you included) who are passionate about writng and exploring  options.  Please be sure to keep in touch with me....right now I am overwhelmed with stuff....so email is good for me.   irenskie@telus.net

Re: new site to help get published!

Hey,

Just typed in publush.com instead of pubslush.com, lol found someone trying to promote their book.
Anyway, I, and this is just my instinct on it, don't think self publishing works, for a few maybe but on the whole self publishers end up selling to friends and family and the remaining go in the attic, however, this site seems interesting in their approach. I will have to read the small print.
