The Devil's Grin
Aekronberg's The Devil's Grin is an extremely well-written account of 20th century England, a feisty young epidemiologist and the fictional Sherlcok Holmes. The detail is well researched and provides a fascinating look into this time period. I recommend this book!

Re: The Devil's Grin
I second this recommendation. I have unfortunately only had time to read the first chapter, but was extremely impressed by every aspect of the writing. If you are a fan of either 19th century writing, Mr. Holmes, or both, I highly recommend The Devil's Grin.
The saint answered: "With singing, weeping, laughing, and mumbling do I praise the God who is my God." / When Zarathustra was alone, he said to his heart: "Could it be possible! This old saint in the forest has not yet heard that God is dead!"
