Impetuous Heart
Being half Irish I was astonished at what I didn't know about my own history. Impetuous Heart takes you to turn of the twentieth century Ireland and into the life of sixteen year old Nora and her family. The reader gets to experience the day to day life of an Irish girl almost a hundred years ago, a time when a female was expected to marry and have children and not much more. Nora's family, however is a little more progressive than that and while her true love is away in France fighting WW1, Nora learns to weave in order to make a living and gets involved with the rebels trying to free Ireland from Britain. And that's just a little taste of Nora's adventures. I enjoyed this novel immensely and know you will too. Check out Impetuous Heart by brosna11, you'll be glad you did!

Stop whining about your life, and start thanking God for it.

Re: Impetuous Heart
Dags, your eloquent endorsement is welcome and I deeply appreciate it as your own work is full of Irish wit and humor. You have linked up the folklore of the selkie with ecological protection in our own country. I doubt that's been done before. Nora is a vehicle for Irish folklore while your own Nichole tries to make sense out of the intersection of selkie folklore with a crime scene. Your hero Boston is a regular sort who patiently endures his mother's stresses while pursuing his own responsibilities. It's been a pleasure watching your story grow as we followed their adventures. I'm sure it will grow some more as you polish it up. All the ingredients are there. Magic is alive. Anyone who hasn't experienced the adventures of Boston is missing something really different from the ordinary detective story. That recommendation comes from another half-Irish reader, i.e., Nadine.

Re: Impetuous Heart
Thanks for your gracious endorsement. But my novel is just a silly indulgence of my imagination, while Impetuous Heart is a novel the reader can learn something from. Injustice didn't begin with Ireland and it won't end there, but Ireland has a proud history of resistance and a steadfast commitment to being a sovereign nation in spite of British interference. This resistance started before Nora and continues today. Your novel exposes the courage of the Irish people and their willingness to sacrifice their lives to ensure a future of self rule.
There's no comparison. AND it's just the right reading material for St. Patrick's day!

Re: Impetuous Heart
Dags! I think the entire site 'needs' to read Impetuous Heart. It is a work of the soul. I simply loved it and would be reading the entire story if I had the time! I think it is a wonderful example of what writing is all about. Not only entertaining from one spectrum to another it is also so touching and beautifully written! If I were to try writing my first novel? I most likely would keep checking back to "Impetuous Heart" for reverence in sentence structure and how to evoke feelings and share those in words. Plus Nadine talent of fully outlining each character so the reader can have a photo of them in their mind. Great story for women and their struggle in a way in that time and age.
She shows her female characters from a pool of strength and belief.
Oh.. and your novel! Far cry form a 'silly indulgence" Come on! You know you are good and getting even better!
Yours I would read all over again in a heartbeat but am waiting to 'buy ' the novel.
I want a copy of Impetuous Heart ! I believe it will get there! And I am totally sincere as a reader/reviewer and lover of stories well told.

Re: Impetuous Heart
You will surely both have signed copies if the publisher comes through. Still waiting. So glad to have true believers here. My heart is in that little village and will they be surprised when they find out they're all in my novel. The Keanes, O'Connors, Roches, etc. will have something to celebrate if the dang book comes out. The spirits in the cave will probably throw a party. It all started here on this site. Thanks to all.
